I Have run Spybot S&D and AdAware but still seem to have problems.
Can someone take a look at my HJT log and let me know what to do?

Hello rtullio, Welcome to TomCoyote forums. :) If you still need help please follow these instructions in the posted order:

1) You have some nasty infections including the Peper trojan. Once we fix Peper I will be using some tools to clean out the worse of the infections. Please follow all instructions carefully. Thanks.

2) You have a Peper infection, please click here to download the PeperFix tool, save it to your desktop, doubleclick on it, click 'Find and Fix' and reboot if prompted.

3) You have several bad infections and you would be better served if you were to use the most recent versions of Ad-aware and Spybot as they can get to places HJT cannot. Please use this link: http://tomcoyote.org/aawsb.php to download, update, configure and run these two "big guns" and allow them to remove anything bad they locate. Both programs provide backups for your safety. ***note: please do not activate Spybot TeaTimer until your computer is clean. Run Spybot first and reboot between the scans. It is good to run both programs at least twice, and run the "Full System Scan".

4) Let's check for trojans in case any are hiding, run this free online scan, scan the whole system. Let me know what it finds and the exact name and location of anything it locates but can't remove. You may be asked to install an ActiveX, please do so as this program is safe and it can not run without it.
http://www.windowsecurity.com/trojanscan/

5) Please run at least one these scans, allow ActiveX if asked, have them fix or clean anything located. Please post for me the exact name and location of anything any of the scans locates but can not remove.
http://housecall.trendmicro.com/housecall/start_corp.asp
http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/co…n_principal.htm

6) You are running HJT from F:\ this cannot be a floppy or CD. If F:\ is not a drive, please move HJT to C:\ like this: C:\HJT\HijackThis.exe
Please do that before you post.

7) Stay in this same thread and post a new log, we will have more cleanup to do with HijackThis.

Thanks…pskelley

Hi pskelley
Thanks for the quick response.
I followed your instructions.
The Peper fix said there were no traces.
I updated both Spybot and Ad Aware, Spybot found and cleaned a few items, Adaware said I was clean.
I ran the trojan scan and online virus scan and both were clean.
here is the new HJT log.
Let me know what to do next if any.
Thanks again!!

Hi rtullio, Great job following those complex instructions, let's get the rest of this junk now.

1) Download CCleaner from this link: http://www.ccleaner.com/ Take the time to review the instructions on the download page so that when I ask you to run it you will know what you are doing.

2) You will need more malware protection, we will cover that when you are clean. I am not familiar with AOL Spyware Protection but but I don't trust aol. As soon as you finish with HJT, enable that TeaTimer function in Spybot. That will give you some good additional realtime protection for now. This aol software may prevent our HJT fix (if it's worth it's salt it would) so turn it off while you run HJT.
If you get any prompts from Norton, make sure you allow the changes.

3) I am concerned about this item: O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Extreme Messenger for AIM] C:\Program Files\Extreme Messenger\ExtremeMessenger.exe nosplash Are you positive it is safe. If you download MessengerPlus (nothing to do with msnim or microsoft) you wind up with the LOP toolbar and other junk. Are you sure this download was safe or could this stuff we are removing have come along with it. If this is possible, you should remove it.

4) Could you tell me what the following lines are. I see no program for this. If you do not know or have removed the program, please check these lines for removal with HJT. If you have a link to the toolbar would you please post it. Thanks.
O9 - Extra button: Anquiro Toolbar - {A4F64D63-3576-4754-8DD5-4D0A49345FD5} - (no file)
O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: Anquiro Toolbar - {A4F64D63-3576-4754-8DD5-4D0A49345FD5} - (no file)

5) You have this onboard: O9 - Extra button: WeatherBug - {AF6CABAB-61F9-4f12-A198-B7D41EF1CB52} - C:\Program Files\AWS\WeatherBug\Weather.exe (file missing) (HKCU) Versions before 6.0 were loaded with adware, you may want to check and remove this also.

6) Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

O1 - Hosts: indows.
O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {40D41A8B-D79B-43d7-99A7-9EE0F344C385} - (no file)

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

SHOW HIDDEN FILES: Follow the instructions in the link to enable hidden files for your operating system.
You may wish to reverse this process if you have any concern about anyone getting into these hidden system files.
http://www.xtra.co.nz/help/0,,4155-1916458,00.html

RIGHT Click on Start then click on Explore. Locate and delete these items:
(some items may not be there, but check carefully)

C:\documents and settings\alexa\local settings\temp\4GGuaTIS7.exe >>> file
Open the temp folder in red and delete evdrything in that folder(not the folder)

C:\WINDOWS\frsk.exe >>> file

C:\WINDOWS\Remove_spyware.exe >>> file

C:\WINDOWS\System32\EMBIOSO.exe >>> file

C:\WINDOWS\System32\NuzK63G.exe >>> file

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ossproxy.exe >>> file

C:\WINDOWS\System32\prrtect.exe >>> file

Locate C:\Windows\Prefetch folder and open it. Delete the contents of the folder (NOT THE FOLDER) if there are many choose Edit then Select all then Delete. You may not be able to remove them all, don't be concerned unless any have the name of the items we need to remove. Here is some information about the Prefetch for you:
http://techrepublic.com.com/5100-6270-5165773.html
http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1759,1683520,00.asp

Run CCleaner then restart the computer and post a new log in this same thread along with any feedback you have. Let us know how you are running.

Hi pskelley
I Followed your new instructions, for the items you were unsure of, I did not install them so I checked them in HJT to remove.
Let me know how it looks now.
Thanks again

Hi rtullio, Looking good, we just have this one item that looks like it is leftover from a Protocol Hijacking, but I want to be sure it is gone. Here is what it looks like:

O18 - Protocol hijack: mhtml -

Use HJT again following the same instructions as before, check this line and remove it. If that does not get it you may have to remove it in safe mode: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/tutorial61.html

The rest of your log is clean, I want to give you this information now so you can benefit from the advice these malware experts have to give.
Here is some great information from Tony Klein, Texruss, ChrisRLG and Grinler to help you stay clean and safe online:
http://forums.net-integration.net/index.php?showtopic=3051
http://russelltexas.com/malware/allclear.htm
http://forum.malwareremoval.com/viewtopic.php?t=14
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topict2520.html

Besides that one line, how is the computer running? Please post a new long when O18 - Protocol hijack: mhtml - is gone so I can take one last look. Thanks…Phil
