I am seeing a lot of ICMP traffic coming from a machine on our network and wondered if anyone knows of a utility that will tell me what application or possibly service is initiating it. Thanks, Rusty
Yes, the machine is sending out ICMP traffic even when no one is there. It is one particular machine generating the traffic, however, I don't know what application is doing it. Rusty
the reason i asked about firewall/router is so you could check the logs, but you know the traffic is originating from within your LAN?

at the computer in question:start>run>cmd at the DOS prompt type in netstat -a for all connections and listening ports

you might also download and install tcpview(free)with a nice GUI: http://sysinternals.com/Utilities/TcpView.html
