 After cleaning my computer of all its ills, I'm left with this error message that won't go away. How do I get rid of it. My display properties have all gone away except settings and screensaver. "A fatal error has occured" etc., etc., etc. I know the problem it is talking about has already been resolved, but the error message won't go away

My display properties have all gone away except settings and screensaver.

That may possibly be courtesy of one Smitfraud, or is certainly characteristics of such. Have you per chance experienced any problems with the desktop background or with Internet Explorer.
I see you have indeed had the Smitfraud problem, as per your previous HJT logfile, with the most recent one being clean. There must be a few rogue Registry entries remaining.

We could take a look if you can run this script…

Go to Start > Run > type notepad and copy/paste in the following…
regedit /e ok1.txt "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\
Explorer"
regedit /e ok2.txt "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\
Explorer"

copy ok1.txt + ok2.txt = look.txt
del ok1.txt
del ok2.txt
look.txt
…then close and save the document as anyfilename.BAT and as type All Files. Locate the file where you saved it, execute and then post back with the entire contents of the resulting textfile.
