Hi Folks!
I had a trojan and it was removed with AVG virus s/ware. Then I ran Adaware and HijackThis.
I thought I would post the HJT log here so perhaps someone could tell me what I need to delete. There are some entries that look suspicious to me but I hate to delete anything without asking first, Thanks!

An update… I have tried to delete some things but I still have a browser hijacker, "about:blank" continues to install itself as my homepage and I have not been able to fix this. Perhaps I could get some input from someone that knows what to do, Thanks!
Hi there! I hope someone will help me out of this mess. While trying to remove a bug yesterday I did something that caused the computer to show this on a blue screen: "Stop:c0000221 Bad Image Checksum The image wininet.dll is possibly corrupt The header checksum does not match the computed checksum" I was trying to remove the about:blank browser hijack problem at the time I messed it up. The computer was turned off in the middle of running System Restore and when I booted it up again this window was displayed. (XP Home Version) Does anyone know how I can fix this? Please help! Thanks John
Hi Folks!

I am very sorry that you seem to have fallen through the cracks when it comes to people helping you. Unfortunately that happens occasionally and there doesn't seem to be a solution to the problem (we've tried to find one).

You computer looks pretty clean now. The on ly things I have to suggest are that you don't need the following:
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [MoneyStartUp] C:\Program Files\Microsoft Money\System\Money Startup.exe
O4 - Startup: Registration-Studio 7SE.lnk=C:\ProgramFiles\Pinnacle\Studio\Register\RegTool.exe
O4 - Global Startup: hp center UI.lnk = C:\Program Files\hpcenter\137903\Shadow\ShadowBar.exe

running when windows starts they could be slowing down your boot time and they are easy to remove from startup. In Microsoft Money you will find an entry in the options/preferences to start it with windows - just change it to say No.

The other two are in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup and you can just remove the entries there and they will be able to be started once you are in Windows, but won't start when you turn your computer on as they are now.

There are a few things you should do once you are completely clean:

1. Reset and Re-enable your System Restore to remove bad files from the backup that Windows makes as no program is able to clean those files:

1. Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
2. On the Performance tab, click File System, or press ALT+F.
3. On the Troubleshooting tab, click to clear the Disable System Restore check box.
4. Click OK twice, and then click Yes when you are prompted to restart the computer.

2. Another cleanup that will help is to go to Start>Programs>Acccessories>System Tools> Disk Cleanup and put a check mark beside all the entries in the disk cleanup window that ask you what you want to clean. Clean all hard drives and all files. This will get rid of any malware that is hiding in the temporary folders.

3. Make sure that all are gone, by checking the folders that the Temporary Internet Files and Temp files are stored in. To do so use Control Panel > Internet Options(or right click the IE icon on the desktop and choose Properties). Click Delete Files on the General Tab - place a check in the Delete all offline content box, then 'Clear History' and then press OK

4. Empty your Recycle Bin

5. Double Check the following folders to make sure they are empty:
C:\WINDOWS\Profiles\your account\Temporary Internet Files
Delete all the files in (and any subfolders of) the C:\Windows\Temp\ folder

You do not appear to have a firewall running and there are a few available for free that have excellent reputations:

Zone ALarm Free Firewall

Kerio Free Firewall

I think you may benefit from reading the article "How Did I Get Infected In The First Place" linked at the bottom of this post, for information on how to secure your PC from spyware/adware/malware.There are several small free programs mentioned there that help with securing your PC against this type of problem.

Microsoft released SP2 which contains new critical updates for both Windows and Internet Explorer, last week. Please go to Microsoft Windows and Internet Explorer Updates to get the critical updates.

If you are running Microsoft Office, or any portion thereof, go to the Microsoft's Office Update site and make sure you have at least all the cirtical updates installed (Free) Microsoft Office Update
