I've got a few bugs that I can't get rid of and decided it's time to call in the pros! ALCWZRD.EXE and ALCMTR.EXE keep showing up and I'm pretty sure that they don't belong and are not needed. I've run Spybot and Adaware already. Here's my hijackthis log:
Please advise of anything out of the ordinary!

Hello xpman, Welcome to TomCoyote. First I would like to ask you not to start multiple threads, just adds to the confusion and lessens the chance you can get help. I will combine the two you have now. In the future, if it goes past five days without help, you should post here:
http://forums.tomcoyote.org/index.php?showtopic=31622 Thank you.

Now to address your issues, if you still need help, please follow these instructions in the posted order:

Let me first give you this information:
ALCWZRD.EXE: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/startups/A…RD.EXE-244.html
ALCXMNTR.EXE: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/startups/A…tr.exe-245.html
As you can see the first one is needed, but does not need to run at Startup, the second should be removed because of why they use it and I will schedule the removal. You do not have much wrong in the log, we will remove what is there, clean and check for hidden trojans and see how you are running.

1) Download CCleaner from this link: http://www.ccleaner.com/ Take the time to review the instructions on the download page so that when I ask you to run it you will know what you are doing.

2) Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:
(most of the R1 and R0 lines are redirects to HP, you can click to see where they go. If you do not use them you may remove all R0/R1 lines. Be sure to remove the ones below)

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/…/search/ie.html
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/…//www.yahoo.com
(the next Toolbar is optional, leave it if you use it)
O3 - Toolbar: HP view - {B2847E28-5D7D-4DEB-8B67-05D28BCF79F5} - c:\Program Files\HP\Digital Imaging\bin\HPDTLK02.dll
(the next is optional, please see the information in the link)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SunJavaUpdateSched] C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.2_03\bin\jusched.exe
http://castlecops.com/startuplist-3552.html
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AlcxMonitor] ALCXMNTR.EXE
(Next optional see this: http://castlecops.com/startuplist-9038.html)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KernelFaultCheck] %systemroot%\system32\dumprep 0 -k

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

SHOW HIDDEN FILES: Follow the instructions in the link to enable hidden files for your operating system.
You may wish to reverse this process if you have any concern about anyone getting into these hidden system files.
http://www.xtra.co.nz/help/0,,4155-1916458,00.html

RIGHT Click on Start then click on Explore. Locate and delete these items:

(only if you decided to update yourself)
C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.2_03\bin\jusched.exe >>> file

ALCXMNTR.EXE (you will need to search for this one, only delete the file, I think it is in C:Windows\)

(I see no evidence of trojans, if you want a check to be sure, then run the scan)
Let's check for trojans in case any are hiding, run this free online scan, scan the whole system and set it to clean or fix anything it locates. Let me know what it finds and the exact name and location of anything it locates but can't remove. You may be asked to install an ActiveX, please do so as this program is safe and it can not run without it.
http://www.windowsecurity.com/trojanscan/

Run CCleaner then restart the computer and post a new log in this same thread along with any feedback you have. Let us know how you are running.

Thanks…pskelley

PURGE SYSTEM RESTORE:
When you are completely finished with the removal procedure and are satisfied that the threat has been removed follow these instruction:
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgen…src=sec_doc_nam
Thanks for the quick response. I would like to apologize for the double posting. I thought I had posted in the wrong area the first time and posted again to correct. My oops.

I followed the prescribed cleanup and I think I got rid of the ALCXMNTR.EXE burden.

After running the free online scan for trojans, I came up with the following results:

C:\Documents and Settings\HP_Owner\Cookies\hp_owner@2o7[1].txt (Trace.TrackingCookie)
C:\Documents and Settings\HP_Owner\Cookies\hp_owner@edge.ru4[2].txt (Trace.TrackingCookie)
C:\Documents and Settings\HP_Owner\Cookies\[removed][1].txt (Trace.TrackingCookie)
C:\Documents and Settings\HP_Owner\Cookies\[removed][2].txt (Trace.TrackingCookie)
C:\Documents and Settings\HP_Owner\Cookies\hp_owner@tribalfusion[2].txt (Trace.TrackingCookie)
C:\WINDOWS\AppPatch\dosurl.dll (Trojan.Win32.Agent.cs)
C:\WINDOWS\NDNuninstall6_38.exe (AdWare.NewDotNet)

Good job  your log is clean, Let me mention that you have called the HJT folder "Spyware cleaners", I have no problem with the name but HJT needs it's own folder where it will store HJT.exe, logs and backups for safety. You should store nothing that is not related to HJT in the folder.

Concerning your trojan scan results, it looks to me like the first 5 items are cookies that have to do with your HP computer. I can't really advise you to remove them as they may have to do with you being able to access HP information that deals with your purchase or they may have to do with this program:
C:\hp\drivers\hplsbwatcher\lsburnwatcher.exe
http://castlecops.com/startuplist-8860.html
I would not be concerned with them but if you really wish to know I would contact your HP technician and inquire if you can remove them.

This item: C:\WINDOWS\AppPatch\dosurl.dll (Trojan.Win32.Agent.cs) is of concern and I see you followed instructions to move to O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [a-squared] "C:\Program Files\a2\a2guard.exe" and were you able to remove this item with a2?
If you have doubt search for the item, you may need to enable hidden files: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/tutorial62.html and delete it if it is still there. If the a2 program removed it, all is well. If it should still be there you may may need to enter safe mode to remove it: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/tutorial61.html If you have any problems here, let me know.

This item: C:\WINDOWS\NDNuninstall6_38.exe (AdWare.NewDotNet) looks to be the unstaller. You can see how the uninstaller would have a problem uninstalling itself… You can navigate to the item and remove the file if you wish.

Since we have a clean computer, here is some great information from Tony Klein, Texruss, ChrisRLG and Grinler to help you stay clean and safe online:

I will leave the thread open for a couple of days in case you have a question, Phil.
