Hope someone can help with this. I believe I have a virus or a hijack file on my system. When I open expolrer my default homepage is not what i keep choosing it to be! I am constantly bombarded with error messages that read : Error loading C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\se.dll When I restart the computer the first thing I 'click' on, no matter what it is, freezes the computer and I have to restart. This happeded about 5 times before i finally had success and i have no idea why! I know how to use a computer and have a reasonable understanding of most of the components etc but do not consider myself any sort of tech! Any help woul;d be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Bryan.
Download hijackthis to its own folder C:/HJT for example. Extrat the zip file to that folder. Then close all browser windows, open hijackthis and click on scan. Once the scan has completed click on Save Log, this will produce a text file log. Highlight all of the information from in that text box then right click and copy. Come back to this post you made and click on "add reply" at the bottom right and a new window will open. Paste the hijackthis log into the new window hit add reply in that new window.

I hope this is right! Thanks and look forward to hearing from you soon.
Bryan

Running very well, thanks for the help. I have downloaded free copies of spyware blaster and zonealarm to compliment the AVG and spybot and these seem to be working well too. I have also done some research on internet security settings and sorted some sites into different zones that allow cookies and others into zones that do not so hopefully everything should continue to run well. Thanks again for the help, Bryan
If you dont have these three programs I would recommend that you get them. Spywareblaster, Spywareguard and IESPY AD. They will add 1000's of sites to your resticted zone and block some hijacks from happening. In my signature below is also a tutorial on how to harden IE, a good read and very helpful to stop these things in the future. I also have a FREE FIREWALL and FREE ANTI VIRUS if you need one.

It is critical to have both a firewall and anti virus to protect your system.

Keep your system up to date and run Adaware & Spybot, once a week works, and hopefully you will be ok from here on.

Safe Surfing. :D
