Hi. I'm trying to clean up my computer and get it running alittle better. I've run all my weekly scans(Spybot and Adaware) and anti-virus program(Norton 2004). Wanted to see if I've missed anything. Thanks for your time.

Hello LongHair426, Welcome to TomCoyote forum. Sorry for the wait, we are very busy. If you still want to clean up, please do this in the order it is posted:

1) This is optional, read what CastleCops has to say: http://castlecops.com/startuplist-180.html not malware, but it is spyware, I will stop it with HJT and mention it below, if you wish to be rid of it then you will search and delete it. I believe it is in C:\Programs\

2) C:\Program Files\HijackThis.exe to store HJT.exe, logs and backups safely, we need a folder. Go back to C:\Programs and point to a blank spot then make a new folder called HJT. Move the HJT.exe and the log that is there into that folder. It will look like this: C:\Programs\HJT\HijackThis.exe.

3) Download CCleaner from this link: http://www.ccleaner.com/ Take the time to review the instructions on the download page so that when I ask you to run it you will know what you are doing.

4) Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

Netster

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

SHOW HIDDEN FILES: Follow the instructions in the link to enable hidden files for your operating system.
You may wish to reverse this process if you have any concern about anyone getting into these hidden system files.
http://www.xtra.co.nz/help/0,,4155-1916458,00.html

RIGHT Click on Start then click on Explore. Locate and delete these items:

Optional: ALCXMNTR.EXE >>> file only

(this is optional, if you feel secure that you have no hidden trojans, pass it, if not, run the scan)
Let's check for trojans in case any are hiding, run this free online scan, scan the whole system and set it to clean or fix anything it locates. Let me know what it finds and the exact name and location of anything it locates but can't remove. You may be asked to install an ActiveX, please do so as this program is safe and it can not run without it.
http://www.windowsecurity.com/trojanscan/

Run CCleaner then restart the computer and post a new log in this same thread along with any feedback you have. Let us know how you are running.

Thanks…pskelley

PURGE SYSTEM RESTORE
When you are completely finished with the removal procedure and are satisfied that the threat has been removed follow these instruction:
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgen…src=sec_doc_nam
Hey pskelly, Here is the new Hijackthis log. The trojanscan found three problems. I don't think they were trojans though. They were as followed:

C:\hp\bin\Terminator.exe
C:hp\drivers\audio\Drivers\COMMON\killapps.exe
C:WINDOWS\Downloaded Programs Files\gsda.dll

I got rid of all three plus the ALCXMNTR.EXE. Thanks for all your help in this and look forward to anything else you could help me with.

Hi LongHair426,

Hey pskelly, Here is the new Hijackthis log. The trojanscan found three problems. I don't think they were trojans though. They were as followed:

If you ever have doubt here are two places where you can get a free online scan of the first first before removing it: http://www.virustotal.com/flash/index_en.html and http://virusscan.jotti.org/

Here are two I missed, the 06 restriction you can use HJT to remove if you do not want it, and the second is DAP which is questionable software. Both are optional and your call.

Your log is clean and here is some great information from Tony Klein, Texruss, ChrisRLG and Grinler to help you stay clean and safe online:
