It all sucks!

I don't even know where to start. I have a searchbar, begin2search.com. The norton internet security dialog tells me "buddy is trying to access the internet" and the executable file is named quvnymznurn.exe. I have done what I can…Spybot, and Norton, and still there is bad stuff going down. The only other info i can give is that the other user on this computer has been madly downloading .iso files, and .zip files from p2p programs and I'm pretty sure this is how we got whatever it is that we got. Please save my computer!
Hi JLN 1129,

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order in which they are mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes.

1) Please download CWShredder. Download the stand alone version which is free

.Check for Update
.Click Fix.
.Exit CWShredder.
.REBOOT your system

2) I want you to run at least one, and preferably both, of the following FREE online antivirus scanners, making sure that you choose to do a "complete scan" and letting the program fix everything it finds. It is also necessary to REBOOT your system after running each program.

TrendMicro Free Virus Scanner and Panda Software Online Virus Scanner.

3) I would also like you to download and run a free trial version of an anti-trojan program called Trojan Hunter: Trojan Hunter . Let it scan your whole system and remove anything it finds.

REBOOT
your system.

4. Download the most current version of Hijackthis (v.1.99.1) to a folder of its own. HJT needs to be in its own folder so that the program itself isn't deleted by accident. Having the backups could be VITAL to restoring your system if something went wrong in the FIX process!

A. Please click on the "My Computer" icon, then the C: drive icon. Next Right click on the desktop and choose NEW from the list available then> Folder' and name the folder 'HijackThis'. The end result should resemble something like this C:\HijackThis\

B. Download Hijackthis from:HERE

C. Double Click on 'HijackThis.zip' to extract and install HijackThis.exe to the new folder.

D. Close ALL windows except HJT

E. SCAN with HJT and SAVE LOG. (a notepad window will open with the log in it when you click Save Log) (Ctrl-A to'select all', Ctrl-C to 'copy')

F. POST the log in this thread using 'Add Reply' (Ctrl-V to 'paste')

DO NOT MAKE ANY CHANGES OR CLICK "FIX CHECKED" UNTIL WE CHECK THE LOG, AS MOST OF THE FILES ARE LEGIT AND VITAL TO THE FUNCTION OF YOUR COMPUTER

Regards,

Trevuren
A few new things:
1) What is "Aurora"? It appears to be associated with the "Buddy" thing I mentioned earlier.
2) None of the programs you reccommended worked well for me. CWShredder locked up everytime I tried to use it, that Panda scan rebooted my computer twice. But the SpySubtract that came with CWShredder worked.

Okay, without further ado…here is my log:

Hi JLN 1129,

1. Download the following program HOSTER.
Unzip and run the program. You will be presented with a screen where you will find the following option:Restore Microsoft Original Hosts. Press it and Close the program.

2. REBOOT your system

2.Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order in which they are mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes.

1. Download and install Cleanup from: HERE. Extract it from the zip file to your desktop. Install the application accepting the defaults. DO NOT RUN IT UNTIL SO INSTRUCTED

2. Download and install a 14-day free version of Ewido Security Suite from:HERE. Update its definitions. DO NOT RUN UNTIL SO INSTRUCTED.

3. REBOOT into Safe MODE

How to use the F8 method to Start Your Computer in Safe Mode

*Restart the computer.
*as soon as BIOS is loaded begin tapping the F8 key until the Advanced Options menu appears.
*Use the arrow keys to select the Safe mode menu item
*press Enter.

4. Now let's do some work on your log:

First we need to make all files and folders VISIBLE:

Go to start>control panel>folder options>view (tab)
*choose to "show hidden files and folders,"
*uncheck the "hide protected operating system files" and the "hide extensions for know file types" boxes.
*Close the window with ok
*All hidden files will now be visible

Close all browser windows and RUN HijackThis.
. Click the SCAN button to produce a log.

Place a check mark beside each one of the following items:

F2 - REG:system.ini: Shell=Explorer.exe C:\WINDOWS\Nail.exe
O2 - BHO: BolgerObj Class - {302A3240-4805-4a34-97D7-1645A0B08410} - C:\WINDOWS\Bolger.dll
O2 - BHO: ohb - {4D568F0F-8AC9-40AB-88B7-415134C78777} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\winb2s32.dll
O3 - Toolbar: Begin2Search.com Bar - {52FE5233-367C-4EFB-BDD7-0BE4D212C107} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\winb2s32.dll
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ewmcyy] c:\windows\system32\kdwuus.exe
O16 - DPF: Yahoo! Spelldown - http://download.games.yahoo.com/games/clients/y/sdt1_x.cab
O23 - Service: System Startup Service (SvcProc) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\svcproc.exe

Now with all the items selected, delete them by clicking the FIX checked button. Close the HijackThis window.

Using Windows Explorer, locate the following files, and DELETE them (if they are present):

c:\windows\system32\kdwuus.exe
C:\WINDOWS\Nail.exe
C:\WINDOWS\Bolger.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\winb2s32.dll
C:\WINDOWS\svcproc.exe

5) Go to start > run and type: sc delete SvcProc

6. Go to start > run and type: C:\Windows\Nail.exe /FullRemove

7. Locate Cleanup through START< . Click the Cleanup Icon and when the program opens, click on the clean up button.

8. REBOOT into NORMAL MODE .

9. RUN and perform a FULL SCAN with EWIDO.

10. REBOOT your system.

11. Finally, run HijackThis and with all windows closed except for HJT, click SCAN, produce a LOG and POST it in this thread for review.

Regards,

Trevuren
Okay…I ran into a couple of problems when trying to take care of things:

1) When I was in safe mode, "run" was not accessable to me. The two deletions you wanted me to do I did after I had booted into normal mode.

2) Nail.exe had a file Nail.exe.tcf next to it. also, the two .dll files C:\WINDOWS\Bolger.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\winb2s32.dll
had .dll.tcf files with them. I deleted both file types.

3)Nail.exe kept "undeleting", so Im not sure if I got it.

and, my "hopefully" clean log

Hi JLN1129,

Excellent work

You are not quite clean yet:

Use the same killbox method to obliterate the following file.
Do it over and over until it goes.

c:\windows\system32\tnuzug.exe

Regards,

Trevuren
Hi JLN,

I would like a final look at your log to ensure that nothing new is lurking and also to finish the cleanup procedures.

Regards,

Trevuren
