I've run updated versions of Ad-Aware SE, Spybot, CWShredder, Microsoft AntiSpyware Beta1. Still having trouble deleting some trojans. Any help is appreciated.

As much as I am loathe to use an uninstaller sponsored by the Spyware company involved, what you have is very difficult to remove manually. However, it has been tested by some of our spyware researchers and no unexpected results or additional malware installs were noted at this time. Give this a try:

And only use it for this particular infection.

Follow the instructions for removal, reboot the PC

Please download the Microsoft Beta Spyware Scanner form the link below. Please make sure that you check for updates before you scan and allow it to fix what it finds.

Then reboot and post a new log please by clicking on "add reply" at the bottom right.

Scan with hijackthis and put a check beside these lines and choose FIX

Hi Siggyx, If this is the best option, I'll continue. Would another option be to backup the program files, format the computer and reload the system from the original CD's provided with the computer? Thanks, ononff

Kav does a good job of killing it these days. If you don't have anything critical on your system you could do it but this is worth a try as it has been sucessful in the past. This is a fairly new and nasty infection but we are starting to kill it on a more regular basis.

I've performed the steps. While getting settings back in order, such as turning on McAfee, the following blue screen shows: STOP: c000021a {Fatal System Error} The Windows Logon Process system process terminated unexpectedly with a statos of 0x00000000 (0x00000000 0x00000000) The system has been shut down.

By the way, KAV detected 169 viruses and deleted 168. Wonder if this means future problems?

Have rebooted, deleted KAV, enabled McAfee virusscan, and also enabled McAfee to start on boot again.

Ran Spybot S&D, which returned tracking cookies, and deleted them.

Ran Microsoft AntiSpyware Beta1, which found iSearch.DesktopSearch, and deleted it.

Ran Ad-Aware SE, which returned tracking cookies, and deleted them.

Boot to safe mode (tap f8 while bios loads) then scan with hijackthis and put a check beside these lines and choose FIX

It's running real good. I believe it's clean, so this can be moved to the completed form. Excellent job with the help. Much appreciated.

If you dont have these three programs I would recommend that you get them. Spywareblaster, Spywareguard and IESPY AD. They will add 1000's of sites to your resticted zone and block some hijacks from happening. In my signature below is also a tutorial on how to harden IE, a good read and very helpful to stop these things in the future. I also have a FREE FIREWALL and FREE ANTI VIRUS if you need one.

It is critical to have both a firewall and anti virus to protect your system.

Keep your system up to date and run Adaware & Spybot, once a week works, and hopefully you will be ok from here on.
