OK Done that but still without success. One thing I should have pointed out earlier is that when I reboot in Safe mode I get the option of who I want to login as. I have been selecting myself each time (who has adminstrator authority) rather than the administrator.

I feel we're retrying stuff here which I am more than happy to do and grateful for your assistance but I'm conscious of teh tiem you are taking to help and I wondered how important is it that these are deleted? Can they reside on the drive as inactive or are they likely to reactivate

Well I've never had the R1 and R0 be so hard to get rid of. I don't know it they will
reactivate or not.

It wouldn't hurt if you want to take the time and do the Safe Mode and select Administrator and try to get rid of them.

In case you don't want to I'll give you the final speech because we need to do these before we quit.

If you dont have these three programs I would recommend that you get them. Spywareblaster, Spywareguard and IESPY AD. They will add 1000's of sites to your resticted zone and block some hijacks from happening. I also have a FREE FIREWALL and FREE ANTI VIRUS if you need one.

It is critical to have both a firewall and anti virus to protect your system.

Keep your system up to date and run Adaware & Spybot, once a week works, and hopefully you will be ok from here on. Both are available below.

Safe Surfing. :D

Should you need instructions for ;
Showing hidden files and folders in Windows.
Reboot in safe mode.

should I also forget about using Avant browser as well?

Yes I thought by getting fid of the folder it would also remove the others.

Close all programs leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following, Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.

Reboot into Safe Mode: please see here if you are not sure how to do this.

Using Windows Explorer, locate the following files/folders, and delete them:

C:\Program Files\Avant Browser
Exit Explorer, and reboot as normal afterwards.
OK done that little eagle - you actually had me delete the folder last post before running CCleaner but I checked in Safe mode anyway and then rebooted. It's all looking good now and I have reset my home page to my ISP. Can I run the System Restore commands now that LDTAte gave me earlier?
Will do and I'd like to say thanks to you LDTate and little eagle for your time and effort to help. A donation is on its way from a very grateful surfer. :D
