Hi, I downloaded Hijackthis on 3/26/05, ran a scan, and have a saved log. I know I will need to run a new log as of today, and I have rebooted since my last scan with SpyBot, Ad-Aware, MS Beta, Norton AV scan. Now, what do I do? I assume I run a new scan with HT, and it will need to be posted, but don't rightly know the protocol, or process to insure complete safety, and positive results. Like, can I continue to use the computer, or do I need to wait to hear from someone after I have run my scan? Please let me know how to proceed. Thanks. By the way, my computer is very clean (as far as I know) from all the other programs I run almost daily, which now includes a-squared. I have created a restore point in a couple of programs, including msconfig as of last night 3/8/05. It is nice to know that there are folks out there qualified to help the little guy keep our computers clean. Also, is there a way to delete folders, and content that has not been used either just once, or never? It seems like my scans always grow due to new files, or at least it seems that way. Just curious. Blondsin

There is no problem that I am aware of, just wanted to be sure, as I don't know how to read, or interpret this kind of stuff. If you feel it is clean, then that is wonderful, and I will assume I am doing everything necessary to keep my computer clean of unwanted carp**. Is there anything at all I shoud delete, or is it just as clean as can be? Thanks for your quick response! Blondsin :)
OK, I did as you said by deleting those two items, then rebooted, ran Spybot, Ad-Aware, 2-Squared, rebooting after each scan, cleared my tracks, ran a disk cleanup, and defragmented my disk, rebooted, and ran the following log. Please review, and let me know if all is now well, or if I should delete, or fix any other problems. Thanks very much!! :wavey:

Thanks very much for your assistance. I now know that I can feel secure for at least the time being that my system is clean, and has no issues. I thank you for your time! Wm. R. Ulman (Blondsin) :D
If you dont have these three programs I would recommend that you get them. Spywareblaster, Spywareguard and IESPY AD. They will add 1000's of sites to your resticted zone and block some hijacks from happening. In my signature below is also a tutorial on how to harden IE, a good read and very helpful to stop these things in the future. I also have a FREE FIREWALL and FREE ANTI VIRUS if you need one.

It is critical to have both a firewall and anti virus to protect your system.

Keep your system up to date and run Adaware & Spybot, once a week works, and hopefully you will be ok from here on.

Safe Surfing. :D
