I have been a proud user of HijackThis since it's early inception, and have always enjoyed the tiny yet powerful program. I wont run a system with out it. however, I recently ran HJT on my XP Home and foolishly bypassed saving a log file or any backups. The problems the scan had found numbered near 50 or more, most of which where to do with my "nemisis" Symantec home security 2006. Cant stant that usage hog, and it's intrusive, aggressive 'attitude'. So I check marked everything to be removed by HJT. Now Symantec refuses to show its face. Perfect in my eyes.. However, I failed to mention this is on my mothers computer, she can't understand how a her $$ bought Symantec could be anything but harmless and processor power friendly, I argue and lecture "Free Antivirus Avast AVG is the Answer." Well looks like I get to prove my point, as I am going to completely uninstall Symantec (GOD help me fight 'em) and hook up AVG. Due to fact it is my Mothers computer I sorely regret having forgone the Well Known Reality that backups are essential. Yours in bittersweet testimony, WhoNeedsBackUps
