Hi mgifford and welcome to the Tom Coyote Forums.

My name is Trevuren and I will he helping you.

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order in which they are mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes.

1. Go to the Tom Coyote Forums http://forums.tomcoyote.org/index.php?
.Click on My Controls near the top middle of the window (make sure you have signed in first)
.On the left hand column, click "view topics"
.If you click on the title of your post, you will be taken there
2. Also, while at that place in control panel, check the box to the right of your post and then scroll down.
Where it says "unsubscribe" click the pull-down menu and select "immediate email notification", By doing this, you will be notified as soon as I have posted a reply to your log.

3. I need you to UNINSTALL WildTangent through the ADD/REMOVE feature in your Control Panel.

4. Then, using Windows Explorer, please delete the following folder and all its contents, if present:

C:\Program Files\WildTangent

5. Finally, I need you to place HijackThis into its own folder, not a Temp folder.
HJT needs to be in its own folder so that the program itself isn't deleted by accident. Having the backups could be VITAL to restoring your system if something went wrong in the FIX process!

A. Please go to your 'My Documents' folder, right-click and select 'New > Folder' and name the folder 'HijackThis'.

B. Copy HijackThis into this newly createf folder.

C. Close ALL windows except HJT

F. SCAN with HJT and SAVE LOG. (a notepad window will open with the log in it when you click Save Log) (Ctrl-A to'select all', Ctrl-C to 'copy')

G. POST the log in this thread using 'Add Reply' (Ctrl-V to 'paste')

DO NOT MAKE ANY CHANGES OR CLICK "FIX CHECKED" UNTIL WE CHECK THE LOG, AS MOST OF THE FILES ARE LEGIT AND VITAL TO THE FUNCTION OF YOUR COMPUTER

Regards,

Trevuren
WildTangent does not appear in the ADD/REMOVE feature because we have already attempted to remove it from there. The location, C:\Program Files\WiledTangent does not appear to exist on the computer, as I was unable to locate it.

Hi mgifford,

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order in which they are mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes.

1.Download the Pocket KillBox from Here

2.Unzip the file to your desktop.

3.Open TheKillbox.

4.Select the Delete on reboot option.

In the 'Full Path of File to Delete' box, copy and paste the following, clicking the 'Delete File' button (red circle with a white X) after pasting:

C:\WINNT\System32\systr.dll

When given the option to reboot select yes.

After the reboot, run HijackThis, with all windows closed other than HijackThis, click on Scan and place a check mark beside the following entries, then close all browser and explorer windows, and hit the Fix checked button.

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://www.hotoffers.info/195/

5. Rerun Silent Runners and produce a fresh HJT log

6. Please post both logs from silentrunners and HJT

Hi mgifford,

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order in which they are mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes.

Close all browser windows and RUN HijackThis.
. Click the SCAN button. Place a check mark beside the following entries:

O4 - HKLM\..\RunOnce: [OOBEDDDemise] cmd /x /c erase C:\WINNT\System32\oobe\msoobe.exe

Now with all the items selected, delete them by clicking the FIX checked button. Close the HijackThis window and Reboot Your System.

Finally,RUN Hijackthis again and produce a new HJT log. Post it in the forum so we can check how everytjhing looks now.

Hi mgifford,

What happened between this afternoon and this evening?

There are 4 TCPIP entries (017s) that are in your log now that weren't there this afternoon. Any internet provider change or modification?

These numbers were assigned by the "Internet Assigned Numbers Authority" in Marina del Rey.

1) If these are not from your ISP, run HJT with all windows closed, click SCAN and place a check mark beside all 4 017 entries that are present. Then click Fixed Checked.

Reboot your system and send me a new lHJT log.

2) If you know that they should be there, please confirm and I will continue with the end of the fix.

Regards,

Trevuren
