Hi mick1 and welcome to the Tom Coyote Forums.

My name is Trevuren and I will he helping you with your log.
1. Go to the Tom Coyote Forums http://forums.tomcoyote.org/index.php?
.Click on Control panel at the top right hand corner of the window (make sure you have signed in first)
.On the left hand column, click "view topics"
.If you click on the title of your post, you will be taken there
2. Also, while at that place in control panel, check the box to the right of your post and then scroll down.
Where it says "unsubscribe" click the pull-down menu and select "immediate email notification"

3. I see that you are running 2 antivirus programs at the same time. This is not recommended as this situation is often the cause of conflict. I need you to uninstall one of them. Your choice.

4. I also noticed that your version of HijackThis needs updating.

Download the most current version of Hijackthis (v.1.99.1) to a folder of its own. HJT needs to be in its own folder so that the program itself isn't deleted by accident. Having the backups could be VITAL to restoring your system if something went wrong in the FIX process!

a. Please click on the "My Computer" icon, then the C: drive icon. Next Right click on the desktop and choose NEW from the list available then> Folder' and name the folder 'HijackThis'. The end result should resemble something like this C:\HijackThis\

b. Download Hijackthis from:HERE

c. Double Click on 'HijackThis.zip' to extract and install HijackThis.exe to the new folder.

d. Close ALL windows except HJT

e. SCAN with HJT and SAVE LOG. (a notepad window will open with the log in it when you click Save Log) (Ctrl-A to'select all', Ctrl-C to 'copy')

f. POST the log in this thread using 'Add Reply' (Ctrl-V to 'paste')

DO NOT MAKE ANY CHANGES OR CLICK "FIX CHECKED" UNTIL WE CHECK THE LOG, AS MOST OF THE FILES ARE LEGIT AND VITAL TO THE FUNCTION OF YOUR COMPUTER

Regards,

Trevuren

Hi mick1,

Before I can proceed with your fix, there are 3 things that must happen:

1) Uninstall Norton as requested,

2) G:\Not on disc or comp & not saved\2005 CHECK DEAL\hijackthis\hijackthis 1.99 17.3.05\HijackThis 1.99.exe I would like to see HijackThis in this folder:C:\HJT\HijackThis.exe

3) Do you recognize the IP ranges in the 015 entries of your HJT log? Are they from your provider? Did you put them there?

O15 - Trusted IP range: 66.197.161.149

Regards,

Trevuren
Hi,
I have done as you said. Here is the new log, after I uninstalled Norton and put hijack this in the C drive.
I do not know what is this, O15 - Trusted IP range: 66.197.161.149. I did a google search and it came up with this name - vxiframe.biz. I do not know what it is.
Thank you,

Hi mike,

It's me again. This has been one of my longest in a lwhile. You have more work to do on this one so roll up your sleeves and let's get at it.

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order in which they are mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes.

1)Copy the data from the code box below to a notepad file.

Save to the DESKTOP (so you can find it) as ALL FILES, with the name of KILLTRUSTED.REG

Then double click the file - when it asks say yes to merging with the registry.

REGEDIT4

[-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\ZoneMap\Domains]

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\ZoneMap\Domains]

[-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\ZoneMap\Ranges]

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\ZoneMap\Ranges]

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\ZoneMap\Domains]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\ZoneMap\Domains]

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\ZoneMap\Ranges]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\ZoneMap\Ranges]

2) Now let's do some work on your log:

First we need to make all files and folders VISIBLE:

Go to start>control panel>folder options>view (tab)
*choose to "show hidden files and folders,"
*uncheck the "hide protected operating system files" and the "hide extensions for know file types" boxes.
*Close the window with ok
*All hidden files will now be visible

Close all browser windows and RUN HijackThis.
. Click the SCAN button to produce a log.
. Click the Config button located in the lower right hand corner of the HijackThis window.
. When the new screen opens, find and click the Miscellaneous Tools button.
. Then choose the Open Process Manager button.
. From the list of processes, hilight the following items by clicking them, ONE AT A TIME, then DELETE them by clicking the KILL button:

C:\WINDOWS\System32\aaupdt.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\kernels32.exe
C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files\open.exe
C:\Documents and Settings\new\Application Data\aase.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\n?tdde.exe

Once all items have been KILLED, click the Back button which will return you to the HijackThis main window. Now place a check mark beside each one of the following items .

Regards,

Trevuren
Hi Trevuren,
I did everything in the exact order you told me. But here are the problems;

I could not delete C:\WINDOWS\System32\msbl.exe as access denied in safe mode.
There are two files called netdde.exe in C:\WINDOWS\System32\n?tdde.exe , but they don't have the ? in the word netdde, so I did not delete them in safe mode.
My home page still comes as http://www.hotoffers.info/246/index.html and I cannot change it.
CSRSS.EXE still runs and I think it is spyware

This is the new log after everything;
Thank you.

Hi Trevuren, I did nothing about trusted sites as it was not in your instructions. Are there many things still wrong, apart from the browser homepage? Can we cure the problems? Thanks,
Hi mike1,

Look in post six for something in a box called CODE. It is hard to miss.

Yes, there still are things to do with your file. I am awaiting confirmation on a special fix to eradicate your problem. It should come tonight, I hope.

While we are waiting, do the 015 Trusted Site fix (essential) and post back a new log please.

Trevuren
Hi mike1,

While rapidly perusing your log again, I noticed a new Toolbar that is installed. " MIRAR". This is full of adware. Read the info in the link below. I recommend that you uninstall the toolbar.

Hi Mike1,

Please do a search for "systr.dll" and write down its full path (C:\Windows\………….

There is a good chance that this is a hidden reinstaller of your hot offers. If we can locate it, we can kill it with a special tool. I have the big boys on this one.

Hi, systr.dll is in C:\WINDOWS\system32 Also, do you recall I could not delete C:\WINDOWS\System32\msbl.exe as access denied in safe mode. And there are two files called netdde.exe in C:\WINDOWS\System32\n?tdde.exe but they don't have the ? in the word netdde, so I did not delete them in safe mode. I'm going to bed now. I wait for your reply. Back in 8 hours. Many thanks for your help.
Hi mick 1, Hope you are enjoying a good sleep.

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order in which they are mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes.

Here are possible solutions to your outstanding problems:

1) systr.dll I want you to download a program called KILLBOX HERE.
. Once the program is located on your desktop, click on the Killbox icon.
. Click RUN
. Enter full path of file in Box (C:\Windows\system32\systr.dll).
. Click on the little red X in the upper right hand corner of the Killbox window.
. Exit

———————————————————————————————

2) msbl.exe Appears to be a remnant from programs like 180 solutions and other assorted malware. Documentation on the problem is practically non-existant.

Things to try

a. Search for file, right click on file and check its properties. Remove any attributes found. Then attempt to delete file.

b. Check in Add/Remove programs for a program called N-Case (spelling may vary) and uninstall if available.

c. Try and delete with Killbox both in Standard File Kill Mode and, if that doesn't work, try to kill it in Delete on Reboot mode

3) C:\Windows\csrss.exe

We will use the HijackThis approach

First we need to make all files and folders VISIBLE:

Go to start>control panel>folder options>view (tab)
*choose to "show hidden files and folders,"
*uncheck the "hide protected operating system files" and the "hide extensions for know file types" boxes.
*Close the window with ok
*All hidden files will now be visible

Close all browser windows and RUN HijackThis.
. Click the SCAN button to produce a log.
. Click the Config button located in the lower right hand corner of the HijackThis window.
. When the new screen opens, find and click the Miscellaneous Tools button.
. Then choose the Open Process Manager button.
. From the list of processes, hilight the following item by clicking it, then DELETE it by clicking the KILL button:

C:\WINDOWS\csrss.exe

Once all items have been KILLED, click the Back button which will return you to the HijackThis main window. Now place a check mark beside the following item:

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [System] C:\WINDOWS\csrss.exe

Now with the item selected, delete it by clicking the FIX checked button. Close the HijackThis window and Reboot Your System in Safe Mode

How to use the F8 method to Start Your Computer in Safe Mode

*Restart the computer.
*as soon as BIOS is loaded begin tapping the F8 key until the Advanced Options menu appears.
*Use the arrow keys to select the Safe mode menu item
*press Enter.

Using Windows Explorer, locate the following file (if present):

C:\WINDOWS\csrss.exe

Exit Explorer, and REBOOT BACK INTO NORMAL MODE

4) n?tdde.exe

Please open Notepad, and copy/paste the code in the box below into a new text file. Save it as FindFile.bat and save it on your Desktop.

dir C:\WINDOWS\system32\n?tdde.exe  /a h > files.txt
notepad files.txt

Locate FindFile.bat on your Desktop and double-click on it. It will open Notepad with some text in it. Please post the text here along with a new HiJackThis log.
