Hi,
Have pasted my log below. I have read the FAQ's and have spybot installed. Unfortunately in haste the other day i clicked 'allow change' when i should have clicked deny! To late….and the EliteBar rubbish…eg/ searchmiracle and its 40,000 popups and favorites links, have severely affected my system.

Running Win Xp Home 2002 + Sp2.
SpyBot
SpyWareBlaster
Norton Antivirus/firewall

Hope i have done everything correctly here as this is my first time. If i have not then i do apologise.

I thankyou in advance for any help you can provide me.

Regards
SunSaturn.

Hi Hans, Thankyou sooo much for taking the time to get back to me. For now however my problem is solved. My kids old hard-drive died, so i purchased a new one for myself and gave them mine. Re-formatted both and reloaded everything from scratch. Well apart from being an expensive and excessive time consumer, it obviously fixed the problem. This is a fantastic site and you guys are amazing!! So this is one log you can class as 'fixed' ! Thanks again for all your time and trouble. Im now more aware of the browser hijacking and will be more careful in the future. Take Care and have a great day. SunSaturn.
Hi SunSaturn,

No problem ;)

Here are some tips, to reduce the potential for spyware infection in the future, I strongly recommend installing the following applications:
  • Spywareblaster <= SpywareBlaster will prevent spyware from being installed.
  • Spywareguard <= SpywareGuard offers real-time protection from spyware installation attempts.
  • How to use Ad-Aware to remove Spyware <= If you suspect that you have spyware installed on your computer, here are instructions on how to download, install and then use Ad-Aware.
  • How to use Spybot to remove Spyware <= If you suspect that you have spyware installed on your computer, here are instructions on how to download, install and then use Spybot. Similar to Ad-Aware, I strongly recommend both to catch most spyware.
To protect yourself further:
  • IE/Spyad <= IE/Spyad places over 4000 websites and domains in the IE Restricted list which will severely impair attempts to infect your system. It basically prevents any downloads (Cookies etc) from the sites listed, although you will still be able to connect to the sites.
  • MVPS Hosts file <= The MVPS Hosts file replaces your current HOSTS file with one containing well know ad sites etc. Basically, this prevents your computer from connecting to those sites by redirecting them to 127.0.0.1 which is your local computer
I also suggest that you delete your Temp folders regularly. Use CleanUp! to do this automatically for you!
