Help! I have been abducted by OfferOptimizer! I’ve tried everything! System runs slow, browser closes unexpectedly, and pop-ups are absurd! :rant2: I have McAfee Antivirus and firewall, but my firewall subscription had expired. I renewed it today. Here’s what all I’ve done:

1. Turned off System Restore.
2. Showed all files.
3. Made sure I had the latest version of Internet Explorer. I do.
4. Visited Windows Updates to make sure I’m up to date. I am.
5. Downloaded the following files and updates:

AdAware SE with VX2 Cleaner Plug-in
SpyBot 131tx (DSO Exploit Remover)
HS Remove
About Buster
CW Shredder
Kill2Me
Trojan Hunter
Spyware Blaster
Ccleaner
Hijack This

6. Ran all the programs in Safe Mode. Deleted files found. Please let me know if you need logfiles from any of these.
7. Performed online scans at Trend Housecall (found Downloader DG - I deleted it.) and PandaSoft (found 4 and deleted, need the names?)
8. Rebooted.
9. No popups since, but it's too good to be true. :scratch:
10. Ran Hijack this again. Please look at the logfile for me and let me know what else to do! Thanks.

Let's see if we can rid you of it. I should mention that I would have thought Spybot/Adaware would remove this one? I wonder about the configuration of the tools and will give you tutorials so you can check this later. My scan is also saying CWS but I think the scanner just says it everytime it sees the A:B word. I just wish to make sure you ran the correct version, that you updated it before you ran it and that you chose "FIX" not scan. Some programs block changes, I see TrojanGuard on board and I am not sure if it will, if any program tries to block the changes you will need to turn them off when you run HJT.

Please look in Add Remove programs for InternetOptimizer or any other item mentioned in the link earlier. If there, please uninstall them.

Scan with HJT and check the box in front of each of these line items:

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows then click on "Fix Checked"

This is when I have you run CCleaner, but you have it running? Make sure it does a scan now and let me know why you have it on auto. I may learn something here.

Restart the computer, stay in this same thread and post a new log to see where we are. Please include your comments. Maybe we will be lucky the first time.
