I am working on fixing a friend's PC which has an extreme condition of "spyware overload"!! I currently have it at my house, connected to my network as documented below.
I have been working very hard for a week (in between other work I am doing), and am still not able to totally clean his machine. Some of the spyware keeps coming back (even though I keep cleaning them and rebooting), and various websites keep opening unexpectedly.

Hello gentlegeek, welcome to the TC.l2mfix.exe . Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts, then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop. Double click l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing enter. This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening, then, after a minute or 2, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it into this thread.IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 OR any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!

Close any programs you have open since this step requires a reboot.l2mfix folder on your desktop, double click l2mfix.bat and select option #2 for Run Fix by typing 2 and then pressing enter, then press any key to reboot your computer. After a reboot, your desktop and icons will appear, then disappear (this is normal). L2mfix will continue to scan your computer and when it's finished, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it back into this thread, along with a new hijackthis log.IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other files in the l2mfix folder unless you are asked to do so!

Important:remove the check from the Tea Timer box. You can reinstate it later but we don't want it interfering with what we need to do. Reboot when done. check by these. System seems to be running OK.. but… it's just a few moments since reboot…
Did all that you suggested, BUT, I was unable to delete OOIYIW.exe .. when I tried, it seemd to work, but there was a short delay, and then a dialog box saying I couldnt delete becuase it was in use. I tried to "end Process" in the Task Manager, but I could not find it in the list of running processes.
What can I do?
ohh.. by the way, wsxsvc folder was hidden, but the Windows "Search" capability found it, then I had to "End Process" "before I could delete it, but it did delete OK at that point.

One more thing.. I looked for the OOIYIW file just now, and it does not appear to be there.
I saw events like this before when I was trying to clean this compupter up "on my own", with just the 3 anti-spyware programs and my own thoughts and guesses. What would happen is different programs would show up with different names. I could never seem to squah all of the little buggers!!.. It was kind of like that computer game/simulation called "life" where each generation some wouild die and some new ones would be born.
Anyway.. that's my 2 cents on that subject.

Let's see if you have a hidden hijacker.
Then download this program.
http://downloads.subratam.org/DllCompare.exe
Open the program and click the "Run Locate.com" button.
Then click the "Compare" button (this will take a few minutes)
When it finishes click the "Make Log…." button.
Post the dll compare log to this thread.
