Please can someone, anyone help me, i have been having a problem with my computer since tuesday 3/15/05, i have tried everything to try to fix it, not sure if it is cause by a virus, worm, trojan, spyware etc. anyway, i am running windows xp home, sp2.
I had to reboot tuesday morning, and when it came back up the only thing i got was the registry editor, now i don't know anything about using that, so i leave it alone, any way, i have no desk top, no icons, task bar, etc. the only way i can get online is to bring up the task manager, and hit new task, and type in iexplore.exe, that gets me online, and use to bring back desk top ect. but not anymore, i'm sorry this is so long, but i am so frustrated, and so ready to toss pc out the dang window, i would be ever so greatful for any help.
Thanks in advance, oh, and by the way, i can't acess any of the programs such as, anti-virus, spyware etc, much of anything, even by searching for it. again thank you in advance for any and all help

Try starting in safe mode, and/or do a system restore to before Tuesday
thanks sultan, for the advice, but i have already tried that, and it does the same thing in safe mode, unfortunatly for me, i had turned system restore off, when i was running, anti-virus, spyware, etc, and had forgot to turn it back on, now let me tell you that was a great big duh lol. i found out today when i got home from work, that screen saver is still working, and i can log on to computer, but still no desk top icons, or task bar, still trying everything and anything, i can think of, and searching forums, again thank you for your help
