Dear Phil

I have jot posted the log file of ADS Spy as it is about 90 pages long and wont get accepted by the post

Thanks for all the help again. Yes I am a stayer at this as I am determined to sort this out.

First sent the file to [removed] and the temp file was safe and part of TrendMicro

Talked to our techies about the DNS Server problem and they assured me that there was not a problem here.

Google:

The history with Google is as follows:
I sent them the problem and they came back first to run AdAware, SpyBot and CW Shredder
I went back to them when this did not work and they advised me to contact Hijack this hence my involvement with you
I will go back to them again shortly with the outcomes

I wish to stress that this is ONLY happening with Google in IE not using Google in Firefox

Used the preferences on Google and changed to ‘Use strict filtering’ without any success. As mentioned will go back to Google again.

Ran CW Shredder again obtained
Restoring Internet Explorer Pages 0 Restored
Restoring hidden IE Option Tabs Done
Removing Host File Redirections None infected

Ran RegSeeker – cleaned up Registry – no effect on outcome of searches

Ran TrojanHunter again in SafeMode – nothing found

Ran HJT Generate Startup List – Log follows:

Ran HRT Open ADS Spy – Log Follows – It is hellishly long

Doing this while you sleep I realise starting come into Fall here.

Cheers
David

HiJack This with Open ADS Spy Log is as follows (Note Goes for Ages):

I have been through the 90 odd pages of this and everyone appears to be an image
Hi David, I looked over all of this new information and nothing jumped out at me. You said you do not have this issue when you run Firefox. Have you tried other search engines besides Google.

1) Try search in IE with a couple of these search engines:
http://net.gurus.com/search/?FRAME=

Only thing that seems to be different is when I run AdAware then it seems to stop scanning at IE Favorites which seems a bit strange.

2) Would not hurt to look at your IE Favorites to see if anything is there you did not add, but it is not ususual for Ad-aware to hesitate at larger files, it does continue the scan after this hesitation…correct?

3) My ADS Spy list was very short? Showed mostly hidden stuff on CD's to protect them from being copied illegally. You may want to review the instruction for running ADS Spy for your own benefit.

4) Kaspersky AV has a free trial of their scanner. If you would like to install and run the scan it may show something. The link I am supplying is a tutorial for the other problem and you only want the portion that shows how to get the information you need. When you look at this tutorial go down to here before you start reading:
download the free KAV Personal 5.0 Trial (good for 30 days)
http://www.kaspersky.com/index.html

5) The fact that this not occuring with Firefox has me puzzled also, almost like IE in infected? Would you try something for me? Go to IE > Tools > Internet Options > Programs then click the Reset Web Settings tab. Just a thought as I consider IE items that could be causing the issue. If Firefox is working ok, you might also make it your default browser and stop using IE until this is sorted out.

6) David, Since you have Ad-aware and Spybot onboard, I am giving you links to other free programs to help you protect your computer and browser in the future. Since we appear finished with TrojanHunter, you may wish to uninstall it. I hope some of this information helps. Cheers Mate, Phil

Dear Phil

Sorry about delay had a bit of a noightmare with Kaspersky - see below

1. Using http://net.gurus.com/search/?FRAME= with Google works perfectly thru that engine also Yahoo etc. Search superb that way - the problem only happens when I use www.google.co.nz through IE!!!! I have written in some detail to Google and sent it all but have not received a response

2. Looked went trough all IE favorites and appears to be no problem

3. Went thru MY ADS Spy hell of a lot of stuff was stored photos etc

4. Kaspersky - a nightmare - downlaoded etc on to machine updated then the fun started - everything went slow as hell, powered down machaine - took two hours to reload and most of night to get to remove programs and remove Kaspersky now the computer is working a normal again - suspect conflict with Microsoft Antispyware. Everything went to less than snails pace with Kaspersky on - any idea why?

5. Tryied resetting the IEReset web settings to no effect. Am now using Firefox as the browser.

6. Thanks for those programs will use.

If any more ideas come up etc let me know - I will also inform you if anything sensile comes in from Google.

Cheers
David
Hi David, thanks for the feedback. Sorry about the problem with Kaspersky. I personally have not run it but I know some folks at the forums use to because it seems to be the only remover that kills a new version of malware out there. This is a real puzzle but it looks like we threw everything at it we could. I also learned that all Temp is not to be removed, especially if you have TrendMicro onboard…lol. If anything comes up on this end, I will pass along the information, I know some very sharp folks are looking this over. If you come up with any information, please post it. I will leave the thread alone, unless we post to it I believe it will drop in twenty days. Gook luck, Phil
Dear Phil Still not heard anything back from Google. I find that is I run any search engine e.g. www.google.com or www.yahoo.com in either IE or Firefox I am getting these first 10 or so similar search responses. I have delved everywhere I can on this and still seems to be a problem somewhere in there. I cant believe that I am the only one that this has happened to!!!! Cheers David
