Hi all, New poster here. My problem is that when I search for things in Yahoo or Google etc, I am frequently re directed to sites that bear no relavents to the topic I,m searching for! :blink:

Well, I have been trawling through the site, and some other people have had the same or Nearly the same problem as me!
Following the advice given to them, I have nearly got rid of most of the infection!

BUT! one little bugger keeps on popping up everytime I delete it, after I connect to the internet! :angry:

You may want to print out these instructions for reference, since you will have to restart your computer during the fix.

Please download FixWareout from one of these sites:

Save it to your desktop and run it. Click Next, then Install, then make sure "Run fixit" is checked and click Finish. The fix will begin; follow the prompts. You will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so. Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is normal.

When your system reboots, follow the prompts. Afterwards, HijackThis will launch. Please click Scan, and check the following items:

O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{455017F6-EE8E-49B0-9879-9B97139B5155}: NameServer = 85.255.116.162 85.255.112.196

Click Fix Checked. Close HijackThis, and click OK to proceed.

At the end of the fix, you may need to restart your computer again.

Finally, please post the contents of the logfile C:\fixwareout\report.txt, along with a new HijackThis log.

You may want to print out these instructions for reference, since you will have to restart your computer during the fix.

Please download FixWareout from one of these sites:

Save it to your desktop and run it. Click Next, then Install, then make sure "Run fixit" is checked and click Finish. The fix will begin; follow the prompts. You will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so. Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is normal.

When your system reboots, follow the prompts. Afterwards, HijackThis will launch. Please click Scan, and check the following items:

O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{455017F6-EE8E-49B0-9879-9B97139B5155}: NameServer = 85.255.116.162 85.255.112.196
O17 - HKLM\System\CS1\Services\Tcpip\..\{455017F6-EE8E-49B0-9879-9B97139B5155}: NameServer = 85.255.116.162 85.255.112.196

Click Fix Checked. Close HijackThis, and click OK to proceed.

At the end of the fix, you may need to restart your computer again.

Finally, please post the contents of the logfile C:\fixwareout\report.txt, along with a new HijackThis log.

Yes, Ive already done that bit, when fixwareout does its bit and opens HJT, there is no 017 refence in the HJT log to uncheck. Its only when i reconnect to WWW that it re-appears on a new HJT scan!

Do you know your IP address? you may need to conatct your provider. Then we can change your DNS as this is whre the infection sits.

You need to contact your Internet Service Provider. Ask them for the DNS number. Then you can follow the steps in the link I provider to change it. Post back once you have the number, do not post the number and I can walk you through it.

Thanks for that! Now when I run HJT, in O17 - HKLM\System\CS1\Services\Tcpip (etc) my ISP DNS is shown, Is this supposed to happen??
