Hello! I can not change my home page in internet explorer. It is set to about:blank and can not change it. My computer has not slowed down and seems to be working fine except the ie problem and regular (about 4) popup windows that seems to want to redirect me to another website. I tried to use spybot s&d, spysweeper, and ad-aware personal but it has not fixed it. Any suggesstions? Here is my hjt log: Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1 Scan saved at 4:42:32 PM, on 02/03/2005 Platform: Windows 2000 SP4 (WinNT 5.00.2195) MSIE: Internet Explorer v5.00 SP4 (5.00.2920.0000) Running processes: C:\WINNT\System32\smss.exe C:\WINNT\system32\winlogon.exe C:\WINNT\system32\services.exe C:\WINNT\system32\lsass.exe C:\WINNT\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINNT\system32\spoolsv.exe C:\WINNT\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINNT\system32\MSTask.exe C:\WINNT\System32\WBEM\WinMgmt.exe C:\WINNT\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINNT\Explorer.EXE C:\WINNT\system32\NILaunch.exe C:\WINNT\system32\rundll32.exe C:\WINNT\system32\internat.exe C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documents\Christophe\Downloads\HijackThis.exe R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = res://C:\DOCUME~1\ADMINI~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\se.dll/sp.html R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = about:blank R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = res://C:\DOCUME~1\ADMINI~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\se.dll/sp.html R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = about:blank R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = about:blank R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = about:blank R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,HomeOldSP = about:blank R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,HomeOldSP = about:blank O2 - BHO: AcroIEHlprObj Class - {06849E9F-C8D7-4D59-B87D-784B7D6BE0B3} - C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 7.0\ActiveX\AcroIEHelper.dll O2 - BHO: (no name) - {E84709D3-C4D8-46A3-8701-611EE9B1DFE9} - C:\WINNT\system32\gjib.dll O3 - Toolbar: @msdxmLC.dll,-1@1033,&Radio - {8E718888-423F-11D2-876E-00A0C9082467} - C:\WINNT\system32\msdxm.ocx O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Synchronization Manager] mobsync.exe /logon O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Net-It Launcher] C:\WINNT\system32\NILaunch.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [sp] rundll32 C:\DOCUME~1\ADMINI~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\se.dll,DllInstall O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [internat.exe] internat.exe O4 - Global Startup: Adobe Reader Speed Launch.lnk = C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 7.0\Reader\reader_sl.exe O8 - Extra context menu item: E&xport to Microsoft Excel - res://C:\PROGRA~1\MICROS~2\OFFICE11\EXCEL.EXE/3000 O9 - Extra button: Research - {92780B25-18CC-41C8-B9BE-3C9C571A8263} - C:\PROGRA~1\MICROS~2\OFFICE11\REFIEBAR.DLL O18 - Filter: text/html - {1F3D3BB4-ED0B-46AE-A8D8-D3E81B49E240} - C:\WINNT\system32\gjib.dll O18 - Filter: text/plain - {1F3D3BB4-ED0B-46AE-A8D8-D3E81B49E240} - C:\WINNT\system32\gjib.dll O23 - Service: Logical Disk Manager Administrative Service (dmadmin) - VERITAS Software Corp. - C:\WINNT\System32\dmadmin.exe Thank you!
Download FxAgentB.exe from http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/FxAgentB.exe and save it to your desktop. After downloading, double-click the FxAgentB file to run it and the program will scan your entire hard drive - this may take a while. When it is done, it will generate a log file called FxAgentB.log - save that information as you will need to paste it here later. Reboot when done.

Next click http://www.soft32.com/download-CWShredder-19014-5.html to download CWShredder by Merijn Bellekom and run it, hit 'fix' as opposed to 'scan only'. If you already have CWShredder, click 'Check for update' and make sure you are running version 2.12 . Reboot when done.

Then click http://www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download/ to download Ad-Aware SE and install. Before scanning click on "check for updates now" to make sure you have the latest reference file. Click "Start", select "Perform Full System scan" and "Next" to start the scan. When the scan is finished, the screen will tell you if anything has been found, click "Next". The bad files will be listed, right click the pane and click "Select all objects" - this will put a check mark in the box at the side, click "Next" again and click "OK" at the prompt "# objects will be removed. Continue?".

Reboot when done, rescan with HijackThis and post a new log here, together with the FxAgentB log.
Thank you for the prompt reply!! After following your instructions, here is the FxAgent B Log: Symantec Backdoor.Agent.B Removal Tool 1.0.1.2 Backdoor.Agent.B has not been found on your computer. It looks good, I have not been on my computer long, but so far no pop up windows.

Is there a next step?
No popup windows, internet explorer works great, and your last reply within minutes … I am relieved and very impressed. Thank you to you and the team for this great service. I will contribute. Chears!!
Looks good :D

If you dont have these three programs I would recommend that you get them. Spywareblaster, Spywareguard and IESPY AD. They will add 1000's of sites to your resticted zone and block some hijacks from happening. In my signature below is also a tutorial on how to harden IE, a good read and very helpful to stop these things in the future. I also have a FREE FIREWALL and FREE ANTI VIRUS if you need one.

It is critical to have both a firewall and anti virus to protect your system.

Keep your system up to date and run Adaware & Spybot, once a week works, and hopefully you will be ok from here on.

Safe Surfing. :D
