Help! Something Has Taken Over My Internet

I picked up a bug or AdWare, I saw it come in when a Help screen apeared and a systems 32 box quickly opened and closed.

I ran the newest versions of Adware and SpyBot, but they did not remove it. When I go on the internet is changes my default page and sends me Adware notices. As soon as I change my default page it changes it to BLANK, their search page?

Welcome to the forum.

Please download and unzip the KillBox to a folder - we'll use it later.

Close all programs down, leaving only HijackThis running.
Place a check against the following items:

Click on Fix Checked and exit HijackThis.

Open up the KillBox and copy and paste this into it and hit delete:


C:\WINDOWS\system32\gbonnda.dll

Clean out temporary and TIF files. Go to Start > Run and type in the box: cleanmgr. Let it scan your system for files to remove. Make sure these 3 are checked and then press *ok* to remove:

Temporary Files
Temporary Internet Files
Recycle Bin

You are using an outdated version of HJT, please delete it and use the new version when posting the new log:

First, let me say thank you! Your group does an excellent job and a great service to the unknowing internet users!

I have completed all the items on your list and I can now access Yahoo and other search engines. I hope this means that we have take out the problem?

Don't open e-mail attachments without first scanning them with an up-to-date
anti virus program, even after doing that I would be very careful. Don't click on any executables in e-mails or any other links that you're not sure of.
Watch your surfing habits, don't click on or download anything you're not sure of. Don't install a program that hasn't been recommended by a reputable organization.
