I've been having some strange computer problems lately, my computer has been slowing down, the internet has been slow, and IE ocassionally shuts itself down or redirects me to some search engine. I've run ad-aware, and every time i run it it finds something called "adtomi" which it removes. I ran CWShredder and it found nothing. I ran Spybot S&D which finds some sort of DSO exploit every time I run it, and removes it. I've tried everything I know to do, so I figure it's time to try something out.

Any and all help is deeply appreciated,

-Michael

Hello Michael, Welcome to TomCoyote forum. If you still need help, I will see what I can do.

I've run ad-aware, and every time i run it it finds something called "adtomi"

These malware writers change the names all of the time to keep us from finding their junk. I do not see "Adtomi" there is a trojan looking item that does not identify but we will remove unless you know what it it:
O4 - HKLM\..\RunOnce: [m10jk.exe] C:\WINDOWS\System32\m10jk.exe /k

I ran Spybot S&D which finds some sort of DSO exploit every time I run it, and removes it.

The DSO Exploits are no issue for you as long as you keep your Windows Critical Updates current. Please view the information here:
http://www.safer-networking.org/en/faq/36.html

Here are couple of links that might come in handy in the future:
SP2 CD
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloa…us/default.mspx
What you should know
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/sp2/sp2_whattoknow.mspx

For your information there is a file missing with this item, I do not use it, but this missing file will more than likely effect the performance. If you paid for it, I would look into downloading it again so it will work as intended.
O2 - BHO: PCTools Site Guard - {5C8B2A36-3DB1-42A4-A3CB-D426709BBFEB} - C:\PROGRA~1\SPYWAR~1\tools\iesdsg.dll (file missing)

Now let's tackle these few problems then look at a new log to see if anything is there.
First, this item is set to RunOnce, to make sure it is not set to interfere with removal, please open your Task Manager, under the Processes tab, end process on the item IF it is there:
m10jk.exe

Scan with HijackThis and check each of these items (m10jk.exe) is there twice, check them both:

O4 - HKLM\..\RunOnce: [m10jk.exe] C:\WINDOWS\System32\/k
O4 - HKCU\..\RunOnce: [m10jk.exe] C:\WINDOWS\System32\m10jk.exe /k

-Netster

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows then click on "Fix Checked" Then please run your cleanmgr. Once this is done remove anything windows locates, empty the recycle bin and restart the computer. Use the two links below to stay in the same thread, post a new log and any feedback you wish to give us.
