Hi

I am having problems with my PC. Pop-ups continually appear (I think from Bullseye Network), and xxxtoolbar (slotch?) is trying to install from http://install.xxxtool….

Before posting my HJT log, I have run Ad-Aware SE Personal, Spybot S&D, Panda ActiveScan, RavAntiVirus, A squared Anti-Trojan Scan and System Security Suite.

My HJT log is below:

Click here to download Pocket Killbox by Option^Explicit. Extract it from the zip file then double-click on Killbox.exe to run it. In the 'Full Path of File to Delete' box, copy and paste the following, clicking the red 'Delete File' button after pasting each one:

c:\fadjad.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\mshelp32.exe
C:\WINDOWS\zeta.exe

Click 'Exit' when done.

If you receive a message such as: "Component 'MsComCtl.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid." when trying to run TheKillbox, click here to download and run missingfilesetup.exe. Then try TheKillbox again.

Make sure that you have no other browser windows open as this could prevent the fix from working properly. Open HijackThis, scan and when complete, remove the following entries by checking the box to the left and clicking 'fixed checked':

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Microsoft Help System] mshelp32.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [Microsoft Help System] mshelp32.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Microsoft Help System] mshelp32.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\RunServices: [Microsoft Help System] mshelp32.exe
O15 - Trusted Zone: http://*.windowsupdate.com
O23 - Service: ZESOFT - Unknown - C:\WINDOWS\zeta.exe (file missing)

Reboot when done. Using Windows Explorer, navigate to the !Submit folder on the C:\ drive and inside you will the files removed by TheKillbox - zip them up individually and send to this e-mail address including a link to this thread in the body of the email.

Rescan with HJT and post a new log for a final check over.
Downloaded & ran Pocket Killbox & deleted fadjad.exe and mshelp32.exe.
It could not find zeta.exe.

Ran HJT & removed the entries.

E-mail sent as requested.

Should I delete the !Submit folder now?

Thanks for your help!

Seems to have fixed the problems. No more pop-ups, no more trying to install the xxxtoolbar. In fact, after all the fun I've had over the last few days, it seems rather boring now :D
Glad we could help :D

To help keep you clean follow the recommendations in Tony's article here:

So how did I get infected in the first place?
