Can any one tell me why this http://www.511ring.com keeps appearing in
>Internet explorer
>Tool
>internet option
under homepage address "http://www.511ring.com" is set as my default homepage address.

My antivirus program detected the trojan horse named "Downloader Trojan" while i surfing the internet on sunday,7-11-04.
I did scan my computer, but nothing was detected.
But the strange thing was this url "http://www.511ring.com" was set as my home page address.
It still there even I had removed this url several times. I suspected my computer was infected by trojan horse

Could anyone help me to fix this problem?
THANK YOU!

here is my log file

today i am very happy, coz finally got one reply frm you! Thank you very much!!!
I have been waiting too long to get 1 reply.

I have done what u instructed me to do and followed the steps you gave.

The problems i faced while proceeded the given steps are as follows:
For step 2, I cant find MsHosts.exe in taskmanager and i only ended the process of intrenat.exe
For step 4 cant find MsHosts.exe also

After reboot in normal mode, the homepage address "www.511ring.com" finally diappeared in IE. Thanks

i want to tell that this morning i encountered that everytime i opened the file "intranet.exe" (type:application) it would generated
another file called:
intrenat.dll
intrenat0.dll
intrenat313.dll
intrenat2025.dll
intrenat8609.dll

I found it strange, so i used my norton antivirus 2003 program to scan those suspected files, nothing were found.
But i still not very sactified, so in order to determine whether those files were infected, i tried these:
-went to yahoo mail and uploaded those files as attachments, after finished uploading, yahoo returned no virus threat was found and
those files were scanned by norton antivirus program.
-secondly, i went to MSN hotmail, did the same thing as above. But this time MSN returned virus was found and the virus's name
was PWS-LegMir Virus (trojan). Those files were scanned by McAfee antivirus program.

I wondered why my antivirus program couldt find the virus?

so in step 4, i also deleted those files(.dll) mentioned above that it(i.e "intranet.exe") generated. am i right?

And the file "intranet.exe" and those files mentioned above still kept in my recycly bin, do i need to delete them?

can i ask u why u knows this file "intranet.exe" got problem without testing it?

anyway, this is my latest logfile
if u find anything wrong, pls let me know!

nice to meet you! Good Luck
Hello again “alexan” and WELCOME to TOM COYOTE, :wavey:
Your HJT LOG LOOKS CLEAN.

Would like you to do the following:

(1).
Please EMPTY your TRASH BIN.
The file intrenat.exe is considered part of a virus.
You can go here to find more: http://computercops.biz/startuplist-1674.html

(2).
Please do this since it’s better to use automated tools to get rid of the bad stuff use these 2 programs first before doing the final cleaning with HJT

First use Spybot S&D. (Version 1.3)
Spybot
Unzip, and update. Install the updates and run. Delete all that it marks in red.
Reboot

Then it’s time for Ad-Aware
Ad-Aware
Install and update by using the globe icon. Restart your computer and run Ad-Aware.
Press scan now and select drives and/or partitions to be scanned. When done select all and click next. Remove all checked items and then reboot your computer.

Please go to this page and read the instructions for how to configure Spybot S&D & Ad-Aware http://www.cjwd.demon.co.uk/spybot-adaware.htmlHow To Setup Spybot SD and Ad-Aware

(3).
Then update your virus scanner and scan your system again or use one of these free on-line scanners (note some spyware has been known to disable PC based AV scanners):
http://housecall.trendmicro.com or http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/ac…ef=EN-PR-AS-107

(4).
How Did I Get Infected In The First Place
I think you may benefit from reading the article
"How Did I Get Infected In The First Place"
for information on how to secure your PC against
spyware/adware/malware.There are several small free programs
mentioned there that help with securing your PC against this type of problem.
http://forums.net-integration.net/index.php?showtopic=3051

(5).
Please run and repost a new HJT log in your reply to this post.
Hope we were of help to you…Marty :D
