Question About These Forums

Why is my envelope to the left of my post grayed out (no new replies, got that) but it also has a red dot in it. When I put my cursor on it, it says No New Posts*. What does the asterisk mean? Thanks for answering a dumb question.

there is a legend telling of the envelopes at the bottom of the page in each forum
