Please make a PERMANANT folder for Hijack This!

You can do this by going to My Computer (Windows key+e) then double click on C: then right click and select New then Folder and name it HJT.
MOVE HijackThis into this folder, and OFF the desktop.

If required a tutorial is here = Hijackthis Folder Tutorial

CLOSE ALL WINDOWS (even this one) AND PROGRAMS!!!!

Run Hijack This!
Click "Scan".
Then "check" the box to the left of these item(s):

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {000020DD-C72E-4113-AF77-DD56626C6C42} - (no file)

Check these items if you did not knowingly put these restrictiosn in place:

O6 - HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Restrictions present

O6 - HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel present

Then click "Fix checked".

Reboot in "safe" mode.

Find and delete:

c:\winnt\sysupd.exe <— file

c:\winnt\web\related.htm <— file

c:\winnt\wsem300.dll <— file
(Should already be deleted, just be sure)

Some malware files may be "hidden".
Be sure to show hidden files when looking for these file(s) and/or folder(s).

Reboot in normal mode and "copy/paste" a new log file into this thread. :)

Do you know if this program is safe? I couldn't find any info on it.

c:\program files\wavelink\avalanche\service\wlavalancheservice.exe

OPTIONAL FIX

Go to:

Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove programs, remove:

"Viewpoint Manager", then reboot. It is considered to be spyware.
