First post….hopefully my last.

Just went to Windows update and downloaded and installed 23 new critical updates *rofflecopter* ( gimme a break i was busy :? ).

Having re-occuring problems with eZula, II22.exe, mydailyhoroscope.exe, wuauclt.exe, etc. I have Panda anti-virus (trial ver. testing to buy), Ad-Aware, Spybot, Spy Hunter, and Spyware Blaster all installed and updated. Spywareblaster says im safe and all "bad" sites are blocked, Panda says im clean, Spy Hunter finds nothing in a scan, ad-aware says its all good; but low and behold if i leave my comp idle for a while and then open up IE II22.exe takes over and opens and installs a bunch of crap then Panda opens up and says virus detected and deletes some "downloader.gk" trojan thing.

Done lots of research on removing eZula and its ilk but it always seems to comeback like everything else. Heard good things about this prog so i hope this will be my last stop on this nightmarish ride of what i like to call GAYware infestation.

……without further ado here is the log:

THX for any help you guys can give B) <——– me
Greetings and welcome to TomCoyote.org!

I counted about 5 worms, trojans, or virii present in your log.

Let's start with some free online virus removing tools.

Please try these free online virus scans of your system:

Trend-Micro Housecall

Panda Activescan

Etrust Security Advisor

Choose "fix" or "clean".

Let them remove any infections found. Reboot after each scan.

Please make a PERMANANT folder for Hijack This!

Important: Create a folder on the C: drive called C:\HJT.
You can do this by going to My Computer (Windows key+e) then double click on C: then right click and select New then Folder and name it HJT.
MOVE HijackThis into this folder, and off the desktop.

If required a tutorial is here = Hijackthis Folder Tutorial

CLOSE ALL WINDOWS (even this one) AND PROGRAMS!!!!

Run Hijack This!
Click "Scan".
Then "check" the box to the left of these item(s):

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer,SearchURL = http://www.begin2search.com/googlesidesearch.html

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://www.begin2search.com/googlesidesearch.html

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://www.begin2search.com/googlesidesearch.html

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = http://www.begin2search.com/googlesidesearch.html

R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = http://www.begin2search.com/googlesidesearch.html

R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {20EC3D2D-33C1-4C9D-BC37-C2D500688DA2} - (no file)

Check ALL the lines that start with:

O1 - Hosts:

Check these as well:

O2 - BHO: (no name) - SOFTWARE - (no file)

O2 - BHO: ohb - {4D568F0F-8AC9-40AB-88B7-415134C78777} - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\winb2s32.dll

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {7E87A9D4-AF49-3F2A-A654-B5B8219509C6} - C:\WINDOWS\Lidampif.dll

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [MyDailyHoroscope] C:\PROGRA~1\My Daily Horoscope\MyDailyHoroscope.exe

O6 - HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel present

O9 - Extra button: Ebates - {6685509E-B47B-4f47-8E16-9A5F3A62F683} - file://C:\Program Files\Ebates_MoeMoneyMaker\Sy350\Tp350\scri350a.htm (file missing) (HKCU)

Then click "Fix checked".

Reboot in "safe" mode.

Find and delete:

C:\Program Files\Ebates_MoeMoneyMaker <— FOLDER

c:\program files\my daily horoscope <— FOLDER

c:\windows\lidampif.dll <— file

c:\windows\system32\winb2s32.dll <— file

linux.exe <— file

lsrv.exe <— file

msconfg.exe <— file

smsc.exe <— file

wuam.exe <— file

Use windows explorer to find the last 5 files. They're the virii or trojans I spoke of earlier.

WHEN LOOKING FOR THESE FILES, BE SURE THE FILE YOU DELETE MATCHES THE NAME GIVEN EXACTLY!!!!

Some of these malware file names resemble VALID windows file names. If they show up in more than one folder, please post back before deleting, and I will advise which one(s) to remove.

Some malware files may be "hidden".
Be sure to show hidden files when looking for these file(s) and/or folder(s).

Reboot in normal mode and "copy/paste" a new log file into this thread. :)
Scan Results: Scan Completed. 41144 files scanned. No viruses found. gg

…… I think this is all finally over. Sorry it took me so long to reply to your help post christian but im really busy, it did really help me though and i think i have figured out how to use the hijackthis log by myself in the future if necessary.

I have checked out my new log myself and everything looks copasetic, i can account for everything that is being pointed to, but let me know if you see any that look suspicious.

Items you may wish to consider to harden your defenses against future infections:

Read "How did I get infected in the first place?" here:

http://boards.cexx.org/viewtopic.php?t=957

Download IE-Spyad here:

https://netfiles.uiuc.edu/ehowes/www/resource.htm

IE-Spyad puts over 4000 known malicious web sites into IE's "restricted zone" to help prevent you from getting infected.

Check your browser settings here:

http://browsercheck.qualys.com/index.php

A series of "tests" (and suggested fixes) to help tweak IE's settings to help prevent infections when surfing the web.

Follow safe Internet practices:

1. Keep your virus definitions up to date, and scan your system regularly.

2. Don't open email, or download attachments from unrecognized email addresses.

3. Be careful when downloading email attachments, EVEN FROM PEOPLE YOU KNOW! Many virii, worms, and trojans infect a persons system then immeadiately spread themselves to the people in the infected persons addressbook via email attachments.

4. Be careful downloading files from the Internet. Scan all downloaded files with a reliable UP-TO-DATE antivirus program. Scan "zip" files BEFORE unzipping, and scan all unzipped files BEFORE USING THEM.

5. Keep your Windows and IE current with all the latest patches and updates.
