Hi, I installed the AVG software as recommended by Siggyx and ran it. It found the Trojan Horse Downloader.Presario.A in my C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM 32\msCMTsrvc.exe, but it could not remove it. Any suggestions? Thanks, Rob

Thanks,
Rob
You're fine. The program in question "msCMTsrvc.exe" is no longer running when you boot so it's not a threat. It's not in the log file now. Your AVG software will still "find" the file (unless there is a way to get it to "ignore" it) because it's still on your machine (but it's not running). :)
OK, then I wonder why my machine is still running soooooo slooooooooooooow? I can time most operations with a hourglass and some with a sundial…
It was slow before I added the AVG, but I have no problem removing the Norton. I don't pay for the updates anyway. Do you want me to? P.S. I couldn't get that link to work.
I removed Norton…it's still slow. Double clicking Microsoft Word or Explorer for instance takes approximately 25 seconds to open. Printing a page in Word takes about 3 minutes and sometimes it prints the whole document in Times New Roman instead of whatever font it's supposed to be in (randomly). I get this message everytime I log off: "Notification WND for RNAdmin". I have no idea if that means anything to you or helps you at all. It never solves itself. I have to click "End Task". Any ideas? Thanks, Rob
I found this on Google:

If you happen to see a message saying "Notification Wnd for RNAdmin", and typing this phrase into Google (within quotes) you will find that the culprit is often RealPlayer, which has a folder named RNAdmin. Delete the folder and see if that improves matters and/or the program, and reinstall it (if required) from the BBC web site at http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/audiohelp.shtml?focuswin (which seems to be a less 'buggy' version) and then delete the RNAdmin folder as it seems to work OK without it.

I don't have any way to verify if this advice is correct or not.

You could uninstall the RealPlayer (then reboot to complete the process) and see if that helps.

Regardless of whether it helps or not, you can always re-install RealPlayer again. :)
Glad we were able to help.

GOD bless!!!

Items you may wish to consider to harden your defenses against future infections:

Read "How did I get infected in the first place?" here:

http://boards.cexx.org/viewtopic.php?t=957

Download IE-Spyad here:

https://netfiles.uiuc.edu/ehowes/www/resource.htm

IE-Spyad puts over 4000 known malicious web sites into IE's "restricted zone" to help prevent you from getting infected.

Check your browser settings here:

http://browsercheck.qualys.com/index.php

A series of "tests" (and suggested fixes) to help tweak IE's settings to help prevent infections when surfing the web.

Follow safe Internet practices:

1. Keep your virus definitions up to date, and scan your system regularly.

2. Don't open email, or download attachments from unrecognized email addresses.

3. Be careful when downloading email attachments, EVEN FROM PEOPLE YOU KNOW! Many virii, worms, and trojans infect a persons system then immeadiately spread themselves to the people in the infected persons addressbook via email attachments.

4. Be careful downloading files from the Internet. Scan all downloaded files with a reliable UP-TO-DATE antivirus program. Scan "zip" files BEFORE unzipping, and scan all unzipped files BEFORE USING THEM.

5. Keep your Windows and IE current with all the latest patches and updates.
(Although SP2 for XP is "iffY" at this point. I am going to wait till they get the bugs out myself)
