I have an ASUS Notebook P2520L

Processor: Core i7-5500U CPU @ 2.4 GHz 2.39 GHz

Installed RAM: 4.0 GB

64-bit OS x64-based processor

Windows 10 Pro version 1909 installed on 20190724
(Note: later versions of Windows blocked because of known Conexant audio hardware issues)

Purchase Date20160331

The computer can now take more than a minute to respond when opening programs such a File Explorer, Word, Outlook, MailWasher, Excel, Firefox, Chrome (these are the main programs I use). Today it took more than 3 minutes to open the "Change Settings" button in "Optimize Drives" (which has prompted this plea for help).

I have Security software installed:

ESET Internet Security v14.0.22.0
MalwareBytes Premium v4.3.0

I have reviewed programs on Startup tab in Task Manager:

Startup programs - disabled:

2016 Datacolor (Spyder color calibration utility)
Acro Tray (Adobe)
Dropbox
iTunes Helper
iTunes Mobile Device Helper
Kies TrayAgent Application (Samsung)
Launcher (Vodofone)
Launcher-Btype (Fuji Xerox – printer)
Microsoft Teams
Skype
Spotify
Your Phone (Microsoft)

Startup programs - enabled:

ASUS Product Register Program
ATK Media
ATKOSD2
Auto Run Module (Fuji Xerox – printer)
Conexant High Definition Audio Filter Agent
ESET Command Line Interface
Mailwasher Pro (email on server)
Microsoft OneDrive
Printer Selection List (Fuji Xerox)
SmartAudio CPL (32 bit) (Conexant Systems)
Windows Security notification icon (Microsoft)

I would appreciate any help to improve the performance of this computer, thanks.

Not a good idea as all the while you are behind with updates you are at risk of malware attack, you are presently missing all of version 2004 and a fair few of the later version 20H2 of Windows 10.

Not sure what the Conexant issue was but ASUS do a Windows 10 driver package for your notebook here

Download then run Speccy (free) and post the resultant url for us, details here, this will provide us with information about your computer hardware + any software that you have installed that may explain the present issue/s.

To publish a Speccy profile to the Web:

  1. In Speccy, click File, and then click Publish Snapshot.
  2. In the Publish Snapshot dialog box, click Yes to enable Speccy to proceed.
  3. Speccy publishes the profile and displays a second Publish Snapshot. You can open the URL in your default browser, copy it to the clipboard, or close the dialog box.
