I usually celebrate birthdays, but as far as I can see Ransomware is coming up for its 30th Birthday....

There is no way I want to celebrate that!

Let's hope that folks who get these infections in the future will have robust and effective back up systems that will have their machines back on line and  up and running again, in next to no time.

Too many folks (in my opinion) have encouraged the spread and financial well being of the bad guys by paying ransoms to them in an attempt to help get their own systems running again and data secured.

It is tempting (especially for an organisation) that has not protected itself properly) to consider paying the ransom, but this does not guarantee the recovery of the data... only that the bad guys will be encouraged in their activities and have a ready source of money to continue with even more nasty versions of ransomware.

If all folks declined to pay the ransom..... then maybe ransomware would not reach its 40th Birthday..... I hope that this is the case.

Regards to all
