Hello. I am hoping that someone can help me with a problem which is causing my system to randomly freeze. It originally started after having to replace the harddrive, where out of the blue the system freezes, for no appearent cause of mine doing. I could be just surfing the internet, watching a Youtube video, or simply working on my artwork. After awhile, I just got fed up and started to investigate to see what is causing this annoying consisting freeze. I first took note at the time the freeze had happened and referenced it to any event logs that match approximately the time the system freeze occurred. Then rebooted and continued on doing my work until the system froze again. This time, I compared it to the previous event, and sure enough there was a match. As a matter of fact, there were several of the same event errors dating back to about the time I replaced the harddtive. The error stated….

Activation context generation failed for "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 14.0\VC\redist\1033\vcredist_arm.exe". Dependent Assembly Microsoft.Windows.Common-Controls,language="*",processorArchitecture="arm",publicKeyToken="6595b64144ccf1df",type="win32",version="6.0.0.0" could not be found. Please use sxstrace.exe for detailed diagnosis.

After doing a search on Google, most people have stated that error event ID is a common cause of an application version conflict and it can be ignored. However, I cannot see why I would ignore this if the event error is the cause or one of the causes for my system to constantly freeze at random times. So digging a bit further, I found one topic where a person said to the OP to do exactly what the error says to do, which is to use Sxstrace, and he gave instructions on how to use and read the log file.  I am including the trace log to this post, but before I go, I also wanted to mention that this application that is causing the error, there are 2 strange things about this incident. the first being that while trying to run vcredist_arm.exe during trace logging, it  stated that the program is not compatible with my PC, and second, sure enough the log states that this is a AMD application, but my PC is an Intel. So I am not sure why this would try to be running, unless do you think it is a fake Visual Studio redistributable file and it is a virus instead?

I'm sorry that someone with more knowledge about these types of things has not responded.  It appears that you may have stumped our experts.

As I said, I know virtually nothing about this problem, but my first thought would be an incorrect installation.  Is it possible for you to reinstall your Microsoft Visual Studio?
