You have not provided any info as far as your Operating System , router etc. Lets run these two scans and they will give me the info I need.
- Right click the aswMBR icon and select Run as Administrator
- XP users just Double Click it to run
- If it says that this computer supports VIRTUALIZATION TECHNOLOGY do you want to use it say Yes
- Click the Scan button to start scan.
- Select Quickscan on the dropdown list
- If you are asked to update the Avast Virus database please allow it to do so.
- The scan could take 20 minutes or more , please be patient and let it finish
- It will say Scan Finished when its done.
- When it finishes, press the save log button, save the logfile to your desktop and post its contents in your next reply.
- Right click to run as administrator (XP users click run after receipt of Windows Security Warning - Open File). When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
- Just keep the defaults as in the picture checkmarked
- Press Scan button.
- It will produce a log called FRST.txt in the same directory the tool is run from.
- Please copy and paste log back here.
- The first time the tool is run it generates another log (Addition.txt - also located in the same directory as FRST.exe/FRST64.exe). Please also paste that along with the FRST.txt into your reply.
Still with me ?
Does the not being able to load pages happen on this computer only, do you have other computers in your home that you can use to check. If so you may have to use one or a friends laptop to download those programs and transfer by USB thumb drive to this computer so you can run the scans.
Also, try this
1. Shut down your computer
3. Unplug your router by removing the power cable from the back of the unit
3. Unplug your cable modem by removing the power cable from the back of the unit
4. Let it all sit like that for about 5 minutes
5. Plug the power cable back into your cable modem and wait for all the lights to come on showing your online
6. Plug the power cable back into your router
7. Turn on your PC and see if it helped
If still a no go you may have to set your router back to company defaults, most routers have a reset switch on the unit that you press for about 10 seconds or so, you may need a ball point pen or paper clip to do this. Then you will have to use the disk that came with your router and set it back up again.
Another option would be to call your new provider and tell them you cant get online and have them come out and fix it, this is what your paying them for.
The bad image pop up, some sites I have Googled say its a windows issue and some say it could possibly be a virus, we wont know until you can get back online and we can see the reports from some scans.
