Hi there.. [image unavailable: batman.gif]

My OS is windows 7 Professional 32-bit and I cannot use any other version because of my job requirement. My internet is connected directly via Ethernet because I do not have the WiFi driver for my laptop.

So I have been experiencing this problem that my internet gets disconnected after 2-3 hours of using, almost every time. There is no yellow exclamation mark or red cross at the network connection icon. And I also have a secondary internet connection of a different ISP at home and sometimes use it too but experience the same problem with this also, so I can say the problem is not connection related but more computer related.

Please help.

If you have already tried resetting your modem and router (check particularly that there is not a 3 hr time limit applied in the "Settings"  then it would be a good move to ask your ISP for their assistance… they should be able to identify when and why this is happening and help run you through the checks you need to make on your modem/router…

I'll do that.. thanks.. [image unavailable: batman.gif]

But it doesn't disconnect after the same amount of time each time.. sometimes it is there for even 5-6 hours and then the browsers stop working.. and sometimes my files in torrent keep getting downloaded while the browsers don't work.. some other times, everything stops working altogether..

try limiting your torrent upload speeds, if your always running a torrent when you get these disconnections and your sure it's still actually connected but just doesn't work, then it may just be your upload speed is saturated which then stops the browser or anything else from working because they can't send acknowledgement signals to the sites your visiting.

or when it happens again just stop the torrent program completely and see if it then starts working as usual (maybe refresh page), this will point to the problem being upload saturation like my initial thought.

nope i dont run torrents all the time..
Actually now i realized it does disconnect after an exact amount of time, like 3 hours.. Can you tell me where to find the settings where the time limit might be applied..

It is recommended strongly that you uninstall P2P file sharing applications and do not use torrents on a Windows machine…. File sharing via torrents is one very easy way of making a hitherto well configured computer run slowly, have internet connectivity issues, and with the likelihood of infections being acquired greatly increased.

Your modem/router/wireless access point will have a section called "Settings" or the like, and this is the place to look. Your ISP should be able to provide detailed instructions for the make and model number supplied or if you bought them yourself then the handbook should give you the details
