Browser Taking Me To Errorplace .com

ok it seems a lot of sites i try click on i get taken to errorplace.com and my browser seems really slow now.also i cant seem to do direct downloads now i have to right click and save target as.i may be reading a web page for 2 or 3 minutes and the suddenly for no reason be directed to this page

Hi!

I'm going to ask you to do some things that you already might have done but please follow all the instructions.

If you get stuck please post back

Uninstall webHancer from control panel / add remove program if it is listed

Reboot

Please delete your temporary files by deleting all files and folders that are in those folders (do not delete the temp folder itself) like for example
C:\WINDOWS\Temp\
C:\Temp\
C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Temp\
Also delete your Temporary Internet Files, be sure to also select delete all offline content.

Do a virus scan here.
If you get report of files that can’t be cleaned / deleted please write down the filenames and locations and post that in your reply.

Then please do this since it’s better to use automated tools to get rid of the bad stuff use these 2 programs first before doing the final cleaning with HJT

First use Spybot S&D. (Version 1.3)
Spybot
Unzip, and update. Install the updates and run. Delete all that it marks in red.
Reboot

Then it’s time for Ad-Aware
Ad-Aware
Install and update by using the globe icon. Restart your computer and run Ad-Aware.
Press scan now and select drives and/or partitions to be scanned. When done select all and click next. Remove all checked items and then reboot your computer.

How To Setup Spybot SD and Ad-Aware

You also need to update your HiJackThis since you don’t have the newest version. Download it from here:

http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/hijackthis.zip

Unzip it to a permanent folder (suggestion C:\Program Files\HijackThis\HijackThis.exe).
Run the newer version of HiJackThis (delete the old copy please) and post a fresh log here.

ok ithink it all went ok except when trying to download spybot updates i got bad checksum error

  • Have Hijack This fix all of the following by placing a check in the appropriate boxes and hitting fix checked. Make sure all browsers and all Windows Explorer windows are closed before fixing.

thanks so much that seems to have done the job.no more errorplace.com and i can even do direct downloads by clicking links instead of having to right click and save target as.only thing i have now is that dso exploit which spybot pics up.the link says it can be got around but im not up on messing with registry.any help i shall ijust ignore it

Hello all,

The problem with the DSO Exploit is a little bug. We have already been able to locate and fix it, but unfortunately it was not included with the last update. It will hopefully be with the next one.
The DSO Exploit is a security gap in IE. Microsoft did already repair this, so if you have all Windows updates and patches installed, it is not dangerous for your system.

I hope that explains the situation.

So, the solution is just waiting for the update  B)

The log looks clean now as far as I can tell.

I would suggest that you go to windows update and download and install all critical updates.
