Not sure if this is the correct place to post this and been a while I been here. But after my old machine burned up 3 weeks back and running old xp I built this system.

Process: AMD a10-6800k APU with Radion HD Graphic's

8.0 Gb Ram

1TB HD

32 bit os win7 Ultimate

Anyhow I having 2 issues so again sorry if it's not the right place to post.

1. The Ad Sense ad's are popping up everywhere, Ie 11, Skype and sites I visit is their anyway to stop them or turn them off in IE 11?

2. The windows host files, I forgot the link were you could download them and replace the ones in windows, does that still work for win7 and should that be a good idea to use them.

Reason is when I use to be here I was using MAMB and still am using the pro version and it stopped them dead in their tracks, my current Av is AVG. This is why I am asking this question cause as I said before I would never see some Malware infection, Spyware Stuff or bots found by Spybot Search and Destroy, but now in the last week I am finding them on this system, is their a weakness in the newer os in win7 or the stuff I am using is not good enough anymore.

Thanks Jimbo1

You can use Host's files just fine, only thing to remember is to right click on the .exe, and select to Run As Admin, or it won't have the right privilege's to work in Windows 7, and I always use them, every little bit helps as they say, but I wouldn't use AVG, I stopped using it on peoples systems many years ago, as I got fed up with it saying there was an infection, but couldn't do anything about it, for Windows 7 I use MSE now.

On a side note, you list 8gig of ram with a 32bit OS ?

You would seriously benefit using a 64bit OS if possible, under a 32bit OS your system can only see\use around 3.7gig of what you have at best dependent on your other hardware.

What are Ad sense Ads? Is this the Google carp**?

I gave up on hosts files quite awhile ago, along with Spyware Blaster and Spybot. Now days I use Windows Defender that comes with Windows 8 and Microsoft Security Essentials for any other Microsoft OS.

I use the pro version of MBAM as you do though, great program.

I agree with 8210guy, you are wasting 4GB of ram running a 32bit Windows 7. You need 64 bit. If you don't have it, you can download a legal copy:

If you do not have a Windows 7 installation DVD, or it's not up to the Service Pack level currently installed, you can download a legal copy with SP1 integrated from here:

Windows 7 Direct Download Links

Make sure you get the same version you have, Home Premium, Pro or Ultimate and 32 or 64 bit. Note that Basic or Starter is not available.

I recommend using ImgBurn at 4X speed (or the slowest available) to create the DVD from the downloaded .iso file. Just be careful during the install not to accidentally install some of the bundled junk that comes with it. Always take The Custom Install option.

You can do this on any computer capable of burning a DVD.

YOU MUST HAVE A VALID KEY TO INSTALL THIS .ISO.

The one on the COA sticker on your computer will work.

You can also create a bootable USB Flash drive (4GB or larger) to install Windows 7 from.

  • Download and run Universal USB Installer Easy as 1 2 3
  • Select Windows 7 from the first drop down list, all the way to the bottom
  • Select the downloaded Windows 7 iso file
  • Select your USB flash drive
  • Click Create

For techies or folks who work on computers:

Create Windows 7 Universal ISO With All Editions Selection On Install with ei.cfg Removal Utility.

This will fit on a 6GB flash drive or can be burned to a DVD.

Edit: Forgot to mention, the 32bit key will also work for the 64bit version.

What are the Ad Sense Ad's, is this the google junk = the answer is yes their everywhere inside of ie, Skype and so forth. This is why I was asking how to stop this junk.

The host files yes I went ahead and done that. Thanks

32 bits os, yes I know and 64 bit would have been great but due to the limitations of many of my software I am using and what not, they do not run in a 64 bit system and I called the folks that sold the software's and all of them does not support the 64 bit system :(

I so have been installing MSE on folks machines, so I guess you would think it best for windows verses AVG or any other Anti-Virus software ? If so I will blow it away and Install MSE.

Thanks Jimbo1

Google Ad Sense  http://www.votetorrico.com/a776956-google-ad-sense-makes-selling-advertising.cfm

Google Ad Sense makes selling advertising space easy

If you've been looking for an easy way to increase your website's revenue, Google Ad Sense may be your answer.

Google Ad Sense is a phenomenal new advertising revenue program that is taking the Internet by storm. It was specifically designed to enable content rich sites to increase their advertising revenue simply by displaying Google Ad Words ads.

Google Ad Sense makes selling advertising space easy, as they handle everything for you. With access to a database of 100,000 advertisers, you'll never have to worry about finding advertisers for your website again.

The concept is simple. If you have a quality site that provides content, such as articles, you may qualify to display Google Ad Words text ads on your web pages. If your site is approved, you will receive a portion of the pay-per- click payment.

The great thing about Google's sophisticated advertising system is that the ads that display on your web pages are relevant to your content. They scan each page to determine what your page is about and display the ads accordingly. This will increase your click-through rate considerably, as relevant text ads combined with quality content are highly effective.

How to block Google AdSense Ads:

1. Open your hosts file using Notepad.

2. Paste this at the bottom of the file: 127.0.0.1 pagead2.googlesyndication.com

3. Restart your browser – AdSense should be gone.

Alternatively, use one of the many ad-blocker add-ins.

AVG has lost the plot. I use MSE on computers wherever I can.

Neither of these make any difference for me:

127.0.0.1 pagead2.googlesyndication.com

pagead2.googlesyndication.com 127.0.0.1

I'll try both and reboot, see what happens.

I use Adblock Plus addon for Pale Moon browser (firefox engine). Also available for IE, Opera, Firefox, Seamonkey (firefox engine), Chrome and android. All from the same link.

Restart browser after installing the addon
Go to > addons and then select the options button under Adblock Plus

In the window that opens, click the add filter button (or custom filter) and copy the following into the box: http://*.googlesyndication.com/*

That's all there is to it. You should now be blocking Google ads.

I find this the best Google home page (and no pesky auto-suggest drop-down box) for lack of adverts: https://www.google.com/webhp?complete=0&hl=en

No, does not work. At least it does not block the link you posted.

Have you tried Adblock plus?

I get no google adverts or flash cookies whatsoever. I switched browsers from SeaMonkey to Pale Moon, so I have no idea how it works on other browser.

Don't forget the Host's file can't be edited the old way on newer OS's, sorry if I'm preaching to the converted, but just incase it's been overlooked, the easiest way to edit the Hosts file is to use Winpatrol, use the View Hosts within Winpatrol, drop to the bottom of the list, go to the end of the last entry above the line, hit enter to create a new line, then copy and paste the entries into there, then close and save, and it should work, at least that's the easiest way I know of to do it.

I edit it directly in Windows 7 and 8 with this small batch file I call EdHosts:

@echo off
%homedrive%
cd %windir%\system32\drivers\etc
attrib -s -h -r hosts
notepad hosts
attrib +s +h +r hosts
