Windows Firewall off/on when connecting to wireless

That could be the reason, but you need to explain more about 3rd party firewalls, just what do you have installed in the way of firewalls ?3rd party firewalls never turn off/on when I use them, only Windows Firewall turns off/on.

Currently, I am using Windows Firewall, no 3rd party firewalls installed. A few days ago I installed and then uninstalled Comodo Firewall, and Comodo Firewall never turned off/on during the times I started the computer.

I mean Windows Firewall is turning off/on when connecting to wireless network. But no 3rd party firewalls are installed on laptop, only Windows installed.
First thing I suggest is to make sure the system knows to use the inbuilt firewall, so lets try to reset the xp firewall using This Fix it, if that doesn't help try This Guide to reset it's default state.
But is there a reason you keep changing about ?
A 3rd party firewall is much better than xp's firewall, but from windows 7 on the inbuilt firewall is greatly improved, but when I ran xp I always used ZoneAlarm to give a much better, and more comprehensive cover than the inbuilt one, so you would probably be better off using 3rd party if you could.
The only thing I can think of is the inbuilt firewall is not fully resetting itself perhaps, because AFAIK when another firewall is installed, it auto deactivates the inbuilt one, because you should never run with more than 1 software firewall running real time protection at the same time, each time I have added a 3rd party firewall it has turned off the inbuilt one, which is why I wonder if there is a residual effect of this behind the issue, more so if one of these firewalls did not uninstall correctly.

Used the fix it and guide, but problem still continues. The laptop is at least 5 years old, and before had Norton security. Yesterday I used Norton Removal tool, in case there was residuals. I will be installing a 3rd party, deciding which no. It was just that this error is so strange, I never experienced it.
TBH same here, systems that have used a 3rd party firewall, and I have removed it (usually for something better in the xp versions), I have often seen the system report it's not covered and it comes up and asks if you want to enable it, never had to go to the sorts of methods above, and I can only think of 2 possible causes off the top of my head, first was the above, the 2nd is a possible infection, the first job of infections is to usually shut down your protection so it can open the door for other nasty's, my best advice at the minute, apart from staying with a 3rd party solution, is to run scans with say Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, and see if that finds anything, don't forget to fully update it before running it.
Malwarebytes, Spybot, Avast, SuperAntiSpyware…all say clean, no infection. In fact, I not had any history of an infection that got through my antivirus program since about 5 years.
