I have most of them installed and play with each from time to time… but I use FireFox 90% of the time. The only one I really dislike is safari. Also, I have never had the opportunity to use any of the newer IE versions as I only have XP so I can only use IE8. I've been told that IE9 was much nicer (and safer).

Try this in IE:

Go to tools (it may be clicking on a gear in your version)
Click on the Advanced tab
Go to Multimedia
Select Show pictures

Any difference?

Yes… correct procedure dictates that you start a new topic for your other computer.

The following is my standard advice for the future. Use what you can and pat yourself on the back for what you're already doing.

Please take time to read Preventing Malware - Tools and Practices for Safe Computing. Very important information for your consideration is contained therein.

I would also suggest you read this:
So how did I get infected in the first place?

Please respond back that you understand the above and let me know if you have any questions.
The thing is, I preach to my wife and kids about downloading carp**. Then, it turns out, I get infected by downloading my own carp**. It turns out that the best way to stay safe is to stay legal. I have always been an advocate of using legal software and never sharing it. I had one bad moment when I decided to grab a expensive program for free. Now I know what happens. Lesson learned. I'm sure, when I try to fix the next computer there will be a similar problem. I kindly thank you for your effort. And, as I'm about to hop on the next computer to send WTT my Hijack This file, I hope your the one who ends up with my problem. Thanks again
Yes I did. Not sure what's going on with it. It started a few weeks ago, then my Media Player stopped working, then WinZip stopped and then I had issues with my income tax program. That's what prompted me to seek your help. Everything else seems to be working fine again except IE. I like using IE but I have no problem using Firefox. That's the reason I downloaded Firefox, cause IE wasn't working properly.
Let's run another scan and see if it tells us anything:

Please download Farbar Service Scanner and run it by double clicking
  • Make sure the following options are checked:
    • Internet Services
    • Windows Firewall
    • System Restore
    • Security Center
    • Windows Update
    • Windows Defender
  • Press "Scan".
  • It will create a log (FSS.txt) in the same directory the tool is run.
  • Please copy and paste the log to your reply.
Well, a bit of an update. I couldn't download the program you suggested. It's likely that the website was down but I tried several times and nothing happened. Then I was working with Quicken and it got extremely slow, not sure why. So I decided to reboot the computer. I did, and it said, that Windows has several updates available for download. So I downloaded and installed the updates. One of which was IE10. I thought that if I downloaded the new IE it might solve my problems. But it didn't. So anyway I went back to the website you told me and this time the program downloaded no problem. That all looks good. What do you see where the picture should be? Give me an example of a page that is causing you trouble (I want to go there and see the type of pictures).
Go to www.bing.com The background should have a picture of a Meerkat. They change daily. On IE I have no picture period, just the search box and a blank background.
There just isn't anything obvious to me causing your problem. At this point I'm wasting your time.

I suggest that you post your issue in the Browser forum and let the Tech Team take a shot at solving this. When you post there, I suggest that you post a link back to this thread so they can see the logs you posted here.
