Hello I ran this program and my score was 1.25. Security and virus was green but benchmark was the problem. Are you supposed to address each issue and try to improve upon its performance by clicking on the endless column of failures? Thank you Peter
I don't see what you are talking about. In my Belarc results, I don't get a score. It says that is for Windows 2K, XP Pro, and Window 2003. So what are you running this on?

And what errors?

Is your computer otherwise up to date? Do you use Secunia PSI? I like Belarc for providing system information but I like PSI to help keep my system updated and secure.
It seems as though there are three categories or columns. As I said Security and Virus was fine but the first coulmn had a score with "details." It is when you click on "details" that a page opens with a lot of green and red checks. I think that is their bechmark score. If you click on "details" you will se the page I am referring to. I am reluctant to send a prntscrn as there may be sensitive information on it. I have had Secunia for years and it is great finding vulnerabilies. I also have Filehippo udate checker which finds updates that PSI misses and the other way around..
TBH the program is exactly what it says it is, an Advisor, and as such it is advising about it's findings of your system, mine rates at 1.25 as well, as to if you should follow through on it's findings is up to the person, I guess from a security standpoint yes you should, but would you gain anything from it, or should I say would you notice anything from doing it, I honestly don't know, logically you would lock down your system as secure as is possible, and that's always a good thing. But I don't know enough to say more about any benefits or drawbacks from doing it, my best advice is if you wanted to follow through with it then do so an item at a time, see what effects (if any) it has on your system, it may protect you too much in some areas, so you can't access certain features on sites, maybe passwords on sites or similar, so all you can do is try it and see, and by doing a bit at a time it will be easier to undo anything that may become a problem.
"Details" link within Belarc;. It seems to be a popular program. I looked over the browser comments and they were all directed to MSIE 8 but I have been running MSIE 9 for a long time. Also, according to Belarc, my Win Firewall needs a lot of attention but Belarc gave me a green pass as far as security goes which seems to be a contradiction. No worries as I will not be dissecting it now. Thank you
My view with such software is don't ignore what it says, not when it's a known and trusted program, but at the same time don't lose sleep either, it's results are only as good as the programmer that wrote it, and although they are almost certainly well over our heads (mine at least lol), they are human, and there are possibly areas that may be affected by things unknown to the programmer. I've used PSI for years now, and have found it very reliable, only a small handful of times have I seen it report something incorrectly, and as you can request programs to be included within it's remit, you should be able to cover all you need, but with the other updater I have found often to be wrong, as such I don't use that one, but it's a good example of what I am saying about Belarc, and it is a good program in my book, but has many parts that go over my head so I can't fully appreciate what some of it means to me

It might pay to have a look at your W7 Reliability Monitor. It will show up any recent problem areas and a description in plain English.

As I said Security and Virus was fine but the first coulmn had a score with "details."

And as I noted, accorded to my Belarc, that first column is for XP systems and all we have to go on is your specs - all of which say Windows 7.

So I ask again, (1) So what are you running this on? (2) What errors?
I am running Win 7 Ultimate 64bit, but I see nothing to suggest the first readings are only for xp, do you have the latest version ? Here are some screenshots to show what we see, and one of these shows an incorrect comment, I have flash 11.5.502.110 installed, which is newer than the one it wants lol.
 Well, now my apologies to Peter. I thought I was running the latest but I was at 8.2 and when it ran, it updated - but only data files. Checking the site, I see 8.3 and now, I see that I too am rated at 1.25 out of 10. :( But now that I am current, I am not buying Belarc's rating. In fact, I am disappointed in Belarc. For example, it dinged me for not renaming the guest account but I have guest access disabled. There are many Xs for things that just don't apply to me, or most people. It is highly unlikely 3 users with totally different systems and setups (except for OS version) have the exact same score, down to the same 1/100th of a point. I wish it still said XP only. I might have to rethink my use and recommendations of Belarc now. Again, I like it for system information, but certainly NOW - not much else.
Easy done lol, but thats why I said what I did, and in my example above, it says my Flash is not up to date, yet I have the latest flash installed, maybe the programmer has to get the fine tuning done on the newer OS's, but you'd expect Win 7 results to be more accurate than that given it's age now, but I rarely let a single piece of software have the final say, I just see what it says, then check it out using other tools etc, but the security to be the same for all of us suggests that there is some catching up to do with the way it reports newer browsers maybe.
Yeah - Windows 7 and IE9 have been out for over 3 years. There's no reason they should not be fully supported by now. Of course Belarc is free - so it is hard to complain.
