I got a problem. I had major infections on my C drive, so i formatted my drive, backed up all my files on one of my external hard drives, then re installed windows 7. I had like hundreds of thousands of files that i had to sort though on my external hard drive because some how i just keep getting infected time and time again and i know all the old back up files from my external is the culprit for continuing to get infected so i finally decided to just completely clean my external hard drive out and delete all of the unnecessary junk. So i did so, and i got a message stating that "this file is an important file for windows, if you delete it, some functions may not operate" So i deleted it. I then backed up all the important files currently on my C drive to my external drive that i cleaned out. I figured it was actually files from my original OS that were copied from my C drive to my external drive, so naturally i though it wouldn't cause any harm.
But after i installed windows 7, not only was that external drive not recognized, but another external drive that i didn't do anything with was not recognized either. I went to go look at my drivers and some USB drivers i think are missing because it shows a "yellow exclamation point" in the device manager.
Now i know the drives them selfs aren't damaged in any way, because when i plug them into my laptop, they load up just fine, files are intact and everything. They just won't read on my desktop any more. I have a total of 6 hard drives not including my C drive. 2 of those externals are not being recognized, i tried to load windows from boot mode and i still can't see those hard drives. Any suggestions on how to fix this. I was thinking bout running a windows 7 repair.
The problem is all of my back up files from my original OS were backed up to that external hard drive so i can't install any of my software or programs until i get that drive back operational and the other drive is just a data drive but its not working either. All i can do is install the primary hard ware drivers.
EDIT: Ok i figured it out. Apparently its my USB 3.0 ports on the desktop that are not being read, so my guess is that some how i deleted the USB 3.0 drivers. Or maybe its the fact that i just re installed windows 7 and i deleted them automatically. So i'll just have to find the USB 3.0 drivers for my EVGA mobo and i think i'll be fine. Now the question is where to find them cause i seem to be having difficulty.
