This is probably no big deal, but I keep losing the icon picture of my virus programs, like Malware and Spyware Blaster. It goes from their own icon to this: Just curious, this has been happening for about a month now. I try downloading them again and they still change. No big deal, but if anyone has any ideas, let me know, ok? Thanks. 📎Capture.JPG
Well, it brought my icons back, lets see how long they stay. It did say my recycle bin was corrupted. How does a recycle bin get corrupted??? Thand Digerati

How does a recycle bin get corrupted???

The recycle bin is really just a hidden folder, which is really just a virtual folder - established by a small chunk of data written to the files tables on the hard drive. The table information could be corrupted or perhaps there is a corrupted file or folder in the recycle bin that does not want to go away.

What happens if you right-click on the Recycle bin and select "Empty"?

I have seen where a simple reboot stopped that error. I have also seen it fixed (or go away) by running chkdsk /r (note the space before the "/r") from a command prompt OR running Error-checking (from the Tools tab under the drives Properties) with both Check disk options selected. Either way, when prompted to run at next boot, follow prompts to allow that. Running chkdsk/error checking may be a good idea anyway - note on large drives, running chkds/error checking can take many hours and appear to be stuck. Just let it run - go to bed and check it in the morning.

What version of Windows?

Since the recycle bin is a folder, you might also run this: http://support.microsoft.com/mats/windows_…lder_diag/en-us

Or you can (and may have to) delete all your Recycle bin folders (there should be one on each drive) by following this. Then reboot and Windows, not seeing a Recycle bin folder, will recreate it.

Note you do need to be running in an admin account.
The recycle bin empties just fine, always has, but on some of the programs I run it says it is corrupted. My icons are still there. Thanks.

Always has? How long have you been getting this error? You might just try running Window's own Disk Cleanup on each drive too.
