I believe it is also the cause of what I referred to as "stubs", or the browsers not completing their "closing" operation
If the browser is hanging or stuggling then this may very well explain the issue. If you choose to install additional RAM you will see a noticeable improvement

I agree.
Another issue; not sure what is causing this. For three days [since I ran "startuplite-setup-1.07"], each time I boot the computer, it wants to run Chkdisk. The FIRST time, I let it run till it displayed that it was done all three steps to 100%. Yet, it seemed to be hung. So I held the On/Off button till the machine shut down. Then on reboot, it once again attempted to run Chkdisk, which I canceled via F1.
Each successive time, I have canceled Chkdisk via F1.
I opened startuplite again, to see if there was something I had disabled that should NOT have been disabled. Yet, I could not tell which one, if any I had made an error with.
Next, I decided to restore the system back to the date after when I had done a defrag. After that was complete, I booted and STILL ran into the machine attempting to run Chkdisk
Since I had let it run Chkdisk to completion, I see no reason why it still needs to do that. And, if I skip through Chkdisk, the machine seems to function no differently than it has.
This is a nuisance! Do you have any ideas?

Update:
Since I posted this, I no longer have a problem with Chkdisk.
However, Firefox has been a problem. In an attempt to correct this, I have tried to UNinstall Firefox once again [since there were positive results last time], and I cannot uninstall Firefox.
I am puzzled.

Upon several hours of review the only probs I can find with FF are:
> No auto spell check on ANY site [Chrome, which I am currently using, shows "on the fly" spell check.
> Haven't figured out how to import bookmarks from Chrome. This is probably a user issue, rather than a FF issue. I DO know that this can be done on installation,
EACH of these reasons are why I tried to RE-install it., which I still cannot
Chrome [very strange behavior]> When I log into Facebook, one of two things happens:
1- it does not recognize my log-in at all; flashes & remains at the log-in window
2- I am logged in, & the logged OUT within 10-15 seconds. (in spite of changing my password)
NONE of these issues occur with Firefox!
IF I UN-check the "Stay logged in" check box, the issue is eliminated. Again, NONE of these issues occur with Firefox!
At this point, I am still uncertain if this is a malware problem [probably not] or if this is some other issue. I am just baffled by it

I do not believe these issue are being caused by malware. I do not use Chrome myself so I am not the best person to advise you.
I would sugest that you start a new thread in the Browsers, Internet and e mail forum and follow the advice provided by our qualified and trusted Tech Team. I am sure that they will be able to assist with your browser configuration preferences.
And, thank YOU for all the help you have provided. You have most assuredly kept this machine going when I truly need it most! [the economy dictates choices I would rather not make; I would rather have a NEW machine, oh but alas ]
Based on all that has been done, it appears we are free & clear. I can now head on over to the Browser thread section for further assistance.
Again, thank YOU for ALL of your VERY functional assistance! It has been a pleasure!
Cheers & be well!
