Hi Rid Ston,
I took a look at your logs and it's clear that Jeff did a first class job in helping you clean your computer.
The infections you had, belong to a very serious group or "family" of infections…. very serious infections, indeed
They are commonly referred to as Zero Access or Sirefef type infections….
Here's what Microsoft has to say about them:
Win32/Sirefef is a multi-component family of malware that uses stealth to hide its presence on an affected computer. Due to the nature of this threat, the payload may vary greatly from one infection to another, although common behavior includes:
•Downloading and executing of arbitrary files
•Contacting remote hosts
•Disabling of security features
Caution: Win32/Sirefef is a dangerous threat that uses advanced stealth techniques in order to hinder its detection and removal. Particular variants of Win32/Sirefef may also make lasting changes to your computer that will NOT be restored - some system files may be irrevocably corrupted and essential security services may be disabled.
Due to the severe consequences associated with this threat, you may need to reinstall your Windows operating system and other computer programs, and restore your files and data from backup if your computer is infected with any of the following Sirefef variants:
•Trojan:Win32/Sirefef.AA
•Trojan:Win32/Sirefef.AC
•Trojan:Win32/Sirefef.AH
Note particularly the remarks about "irrevocably corrupted system files……"
You have, I think, a decision to make…..
1 try to live with the problems you have
2 Try to correct them one by one (a big job for you)
3 Format and reinstall your operating system ( see the remarks from Microsoft above….)
4 I also saw (I think) that your logs referred to Rapport and Internet Banking…… if you use Internet banking on this machine then the decisions you need to make are even more crucial…..
Only you can decide how you wish to proceed ……. However I have to say that if you brought this machine into my workshop for repair then the only repair that would be offered to you would be a format and reinstall of your Operating System and applications….
The risks of using a computer that has been so badly infected, especially if used for important purposes like Internet Banking would be too great for us to offer
any sort of guarantee without formatting and reinstalling.
Let us know if you need any further information to help you make an informed decision as to your next steps.
Regards
paws
