Hi, for a last few weeks I experience strange PC behavior. It started with disabled audio card which I'm unable to fix (every driver installation attempt ends with an error), then graphic card stopped working properly (one time issue, but Catalyst Control Center - I'm using ATI Radeon 5800 series graphic card - doesn't load anymore), I also experience a series of blue screens (I suspected memory problem but I assume it can be a virus issue as well) and at last Windows reported an infection with Win32/small.ca. I tried Microsoft Safety Scanner as suggested but virus was not found. I also tried several other antivirus programs (Avira, Norton and PCTools) but neither of them found this virus. While googling, I came to your page when similar symptom was posted and then successfully solved. So I decided to post my own issue. It might easy be that I have several issues on my PC but I'm not an expert on that so I can't judge. I ran DDS and I'm posting its findings and also attaching the attach.zip. Best Regards Tomaž . Hello, I Am Alander :)

I would be glad to take a look at your log and help you with solving any malware problems.

DDS logs can take a while to research so please be patient while I work on your log and I will post back here with any recommendations.

As I am still training, everything that I post to you, must be checked by an Admin or Moderator.

Thus, there may be a tiny bit of a delay between posts. While it shouldn't be too long, you can be assured you will get the best possible advice.

  • I will working be on your Malware issues, this may or may not, solve other issues you have with your machine.
  • The fixes are specific to your problem and should only be used for this issue on this machine.
  • Please continue to review my answers until I tell you your machine appears to be clear. Absence of symptoms does not mean that everything is clear.
  • It's often worth reading through these instructions and printing them for ease of reference.
  • If you don't know or understand something, please don't hesitate to say or ask!! It's better to be sure and safe than sorry.
  • Please reply to this thread. Do not start a new topic.
Hi Alander, no problem, I can wait. I've been away for last couple of days that's why I didn't reply earlier. Looking forward to any findings.
Hi :), Sorry for the delay in response.. The forums are rather busy, however there shouldnt be any long delays

is this machine use for any kinds of business activities? I need to know to give the appropriate instructions.
Please also let me know how you have obtained these softwares:
CorelDraw
STP Viewer 2.2
Mentor Graphics Products

Remove P2P Programs
  • I notice there are signs of one or more P2P (Person to Person) File Sharing Programs on your computer.

    Bitorrent

  • Please read the What the Tech Support Forum Rules, Policies and Disclaimer where we does support or allow the discussion of any peer to peer (P2P) applications,
  • Note: Even if you are using a "safe" P2P program, it is only the program that is safe. You will be sharing files from uncertified sources, and these are often infected. The bad guys use P2P filesharing as a major conduit to spread their wares.

  • Click on start
  • Then Run
  • In the open text entry box please copy/paste appwiz.cpl Then click enter.
  • Press the "Remove" or "Change/Remove"…button to uninstall the programs listed above (in red) and any other P2P you have installed NOW.
  • Take care when answering any questions posed by an uninstaller. Some questions may be worded to deceive you into keeping the program.

Run CKScanner

  • Please download CKScanner from Here
  • Important: - Save it to your desktop.
  • Right-click CKScanner.exe > select " Run as administrator " then click Search For Files.
  • After a very short time, when the cursor hourglass disappears, click Save List To File.
  • A message box will verify the file saved. Please Run the program only once.
  • Double-click the CKFiles.txt icon on your desktop and copy/paste the contents in your next reply.
3 Day Response
Hi :)
It has been 2 days since my last post to you.
  • Do you still need help with this problem?
  • Do you need more time?
  • Are you having problems understanding or following my instructions?
Just let me know what's going on otherwise…
After 24 hrs., if you have not replied to this thread… it will be closed!
Hi Alander, sorry for late reply. I was experiencing lots of problems with the PC so I was just thinking what to do. Answers first: this is a domestic PC used only for private purposes, no business. The listed programs are trials or freewares, downloaded from some download sites, I don't recall anymore from where, but they are on the comp for couple of years almost. But what is looks is that I've got serious problems with a memory. So I'm taking the PC for a repair as it is still in a warranty. I'll see what will happen there. It might even be that I'll have to reinstall Windows (since today Windows show a not genuine Windows massage which is quite strange to me). So if it's OK with you I'd ask you if you can wait a few days to get my PC back from the repair and see what's gonna happen there. Then we can perform next steps. Can this work with you?
Hi :) I am sorry that I will not be able to accede with that request. Since you are bringing it to a repair shop, the problem will most likely be resolved and/or your machine configuration will most likely be different If you still encounter any problems after bringing it back, it would be better to create another topic with fresh logs for efficiency reasons please let me know if you have read my reply so I can have this thread close Alander
Hi Alander, that's OK with me. Let's close this topic and open new one if needed. Thanks for your efforts and my appologies for any inconveniences.
