I was hoping you guys might be able to help me. Everything as far as I know was fine until I ran some Windows updates yesterday. After that I noticed my computer was slow and that CPU usage was 100%. Task mgr showed avp.exe might be the culprit. It showed 420,00 k mem usage. After some research it looked like one way to fix that was to do a re-install of Kaspersky. I did that and it seemed to fix the problem. Cpu usage was back to 5% - 15% usage. Then today it was back up to 100% and then down to 60% and the up and down after that. Currently 75% and avp.exe usage is 62,000 k. Just wondering what you thought of this and if you can check it out to see if I have any problems. Ran Spybot a little while ago and it came back clean as did Malwarebytes. I'm running XP on a HP Pavilion a1330n . Thank you
HiGuyl
Sorry to hear about the problem with your computer following the updates.
I think you have indicated the areas that I would suggest you might like to concentrate on first…..

Everything as far as I know was fine until I ran some Windows updates yesterday. After that I noticed my computer was slow…

It might be wise to uninstall all the updates that you installed and then reboot your computer as directed (very important)
After a final reboot, try out your computer…if its fixed the problem then your observations were spot on!

You can then install the updates again, but this time do them one by one with a reboot after each one……trying out or testing your computer each time…
Let us know how you get on.
