Hi, my computer keeps freezing, when I switch between panes and sometimes when watching video, it runs a bit slow. I don't have any malware (just had that all checked out on another forum on this site), but AOL computer check up tells me that my memory is 85% full :( . Can someone suggest what I can do (can't afford new laptop at this point) please? ^_^ Thanks. Aine
Note when you see stuff like memory is 85% full, that often means you are running very low of free hard disk space and the Page File is being cramped. So you need to clean up the clutter and uninstall programs you don't use. I recommend run Windows own Disk Cleanup to clean the system of clutter. Then go through your Control Panel, Add and Remove Programs and look for programs you installed you no longer need. If you are not sure, leave it. Also consider moving large personal files (like photos, songs and videos) off to a different drive.
Hi, I have already used Windows Disc Cleaner and moved all of my documents onto a memory stick. I am going through the programs to see if there is anything else I can get rid of. Thanks.
I see from your logs,

1014.05 Mb Total Physical Memory | 491.27 Mb Available Physical Memory | 48.45% Memory free
2.38 Gb Paging File | 1.94 Gb Available in Paging File | 81.36% Paging File free
Paging file location(s): C:\pagefile.sys 1524 3048 [binary data]

%SystemDrive% = C: | %SystemRoot% = C:\WINDOWS | %ProgramFiles% = C:\Program Files
Drive C: | 66.78 Gb Total Space | 37.70 Gb Free Space | 56.46% Space Free | Partition Type: NTFS
Drive D: | 7.73 Gb Total Space | 1.03 Gb Free Space | 13.33% Space Free | Partition Type: FAT32

While XP should run fine in 1Gb of RAM, that sure is not a lot anymore - not after you load it up with Windows and all the necessary anti-malware security tools needed before you dare do anything else. Security is one reason why 1Gb used to be plenty, but no longer is. You appear to have plenty of free disk space on your boot drive, though it may need defragging.

You reported a memory error in that other post. You can test RAM using one of the following programs. Both require you to create and boot to a bootable floppy disk or CD to run the diagnostics. Allow the diagnostics to run for several passes or even overnight. You should have no reported errors.

Windows Memory Diagnostic - see the easy to follow instructions under Quick Start Information,
or
MemTest86+ (for more advanced users) - an excellent how-to guide is available here.
