I was installing the portable version to a flash drive and was hit with a virus.
I removed it from quarantine, reinstalled Norton and am apparently ok now.
I then Binged/Googled Glary and virus and, sure enough, their Adelphi environment was infected.
I have no idea what that meansnss but I am sure you do.
They have issued large red notices that newer versions are safe.
Some users may wih to scan with MalwareBytes etc and other scanners than you have to see if you are affected.
What bugs me, pardon the pun, is that I put MG in front as I always do!
Peter
If you are getting viruses while Nortons is your anti-virus, maybe it is time to consider binning Nortons and trying another anti-virus program such as MSI?
Cheers,
Lee
@Peter1 - Check the timestamp of your Google results and note that Glary infection was well over two years ago and has long been corrected. It is important to verify stuff like that before posting to prevent the rumor mill from snowballing with incorrect, and potentially damaging information.
In my message I tried to be fair by saying," They have issued large red notices that newer versions are safe"
I think that is an honest report of events.
It is also true that I did not take care to proceed diligently or this would not have happened. I have to think I am not the only one who has done this.
Re: Norton, it is actually the program that quarantined the virus.
I would be a fool to cause alienation at a site that has helped me and my intention was not to do so.
The best I can do is rethink my posts before sending them. I thought I reported appropriately and am well aware of the harm fallacious reporting can cause.
I apologize here and will try to do so at the Glary site as I am first in line to make peace on this very brief walk called life.
Off to glary and thank you for pointing out my faults.

I don't think that is necessary, unless you posted there too that Glary was infected.
No, you are not the first, only, or last to do this. In fact, if any of the staff or regulars say they never have, they are probably not telling the truth.
Re: Norton, it is actually the program that quarantined the virus.
That seems odd to me. Not that Norton would tag it, but that it tagged it now on a two-year old Glary program. Was Glary on your system for some time, and now suddenly Norton tagged it? Did you just download Glary and Norton tagged?
If it was on your system all this time, why did Norton just now tag it?
If you just downloaded Glary, how was it you downloaded a version of a program that was updated over two years ago?
No, I did not do anything at the Glary site. As a matter of fact, I was trying to send them a note and found it next to impossible to do so.
None of the links at their site open for me .
I tried several places for 'contact,' and with two browsers.
I did get one link that opened but I think it was at Greysoft or something. It was sales or something like that.
I explained what happened and asked that the reader forward my note to the appropriate tier.
As to Norton, I clicked on the link my search led me to and the moment I clicked to enter Glary for the download, the virus struck. Oddly it had no information. I sent it off to Norton who supposedly will get back to me with an explanation. If they do I will bring the information to this forum.
I wish I could be less vague about where I was when the virus hit but it was one of those times when all go by too quickly.
I have never had Glary in my system. To the best of my recollection, I typed MG Glary portable in a search box as I wanted to put it in a flash drive.
Now it gets fuzzy as to when the virus struck.
I took a chance gettijg it out of quarantine but ran SFC and dskchk besides Norton and Malware anti malware.
Perhaps Norton's information will reveal the way this machine was infected and where in the process - we will see.
