Hello. I am wondering if 65-70 C temp on my CPU is dangerous in any way? I play BF3 whole days and at the end of the day monitoring via HW monitor it is about 70 C temp. When is the dangerous level of temp on the CPU?
Hi totte and welcome. It is not dangerous (assuming the CPU is not defective), but not good either. I get nervous when CPU temps hit 60°C. When a CPU (or other computer components) gets too warm, it can become unstable and cause the system to hard crash. This can be bad because it can cause data corruption on the hard drive and in extreme cases, a failure to boot. When a CPU gets too hot, it will shutdown to prevent damage - but again, that causes a hard crash and potential boot problems. So you need to get your temps down. Start by making sure the interior and especially the CPU's heatsink fan assembly is clean of heat trapping dust. Make sure your cables are routed to minimize the desired front to back air flow through the case. And if necessary, consider adding more case fans, or if the case supports it, replacing the existing fans with larger fans that move more air. If your case does not support more or larger fans, your only option may be to use an aftermarket cooler (though these void your CPU warranty) or opening the side panel of the case and blasting a desk fan in there while gaming, or get a better case.
My computer case is small crappy thing and has no possibillitys to be upgraded, i have a regular fan that goes on airflow into the computer, its not a permanent solution but i dont have money to buy a new computer :( I get now 68C as highest on my CPU and 66C on my GPU… I get worried about something will happen but what can i do, i dont have money for it :( Thanks for fast reply
