UPDATE – before you read my post, please know that the issue has seemed to resolve itself – on its own. I made no changes between then & now, so I'm not sure what the issue was/is. This morning I still had the problem, but by this evening it had resolved itself. So, I'm willing to go through the process if you'd like, but I'm not sure if there's anything to correct.
——————————————————-
I hope I have this in the right forum.

This just started this morning.

When I go to www.woot.com instead of what should show up the page of www.toppscards.com comes up. The address bar still says "www.woot.com" but the page is about "Topps Million Card Giveaway".

A number of the other woot addresses just give me this error:

Server Error in '/' Application.
The resource cannot be found.
Description: HTTP 404. The resource you are looking for (or one of its dependencies) could have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable. Please review the following URL and make sure that it is spelled correctly.

This happens on both FireFox & Internet Explorer.

This happens on my Windows 7 laptop and Windows Vista desktop, but it is NOT happening on my Windows XP laptop.

I ran malwarebytes on the Win7 laptop. It found one item:

Files Infected:
c:\$Recycle.Bin\s-1-5-21-262231120-4000290202-3642620437-1000\$RU3GYF6.exe (Adware.Hotbar) -> Quarantined and deleted successfully.

I also ran malwarebytes on the Vista desktop, but it did not find anything.

Even after removing the infected file from the Win7 machine, I still have the redirect(?) problem.

Strangely, when I ran hijack this on the Win7 machine I got a weird error message:

For some reason your system denied write access to the Hosts file. If any hijacked domains are in this file, HijackThis may NOT be able to fix this.

If that happens, you need to edit the file yourself. To do this, click Start, Run and type:

notepad C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts

and press Enter. Find the line(s) HijackThis reports and delete them.
Save the file as 'hosts.' (with quotes), and reboot.

For Vista: simply, exit HijackThis, right click on the HijackThis icon, choose 'Run as adminstrator'.

[OK]

After hitting "OK" it seems to move on and provides me with this log:

A wise poster once said, "absence of symptoms does not mean the infection is all gone." ;-) So, yeah, I think I'll continue with the diagnosis…just in case there's something going on.

Thanks,

Most likely it was router hijack. Don't see any suspicious signs of malware lurking.
