Hi Liza, Have a look in your device manager - Start / My Computer / manage / device manager Is there any yellow exclamation marks in there ? If so expand it and see what it is. Have you recently removed any security software or are you running more than one anti-virus program? Are you running "Spybot search and Destroy? Cheers, Lee
Hi Lee, I havent any exclamations in device manager, and im not running S &D anymore. I havent removed anything from pc but it has been saying ive no virus protection but i thought online armour was enough thats all i have on pc that im aware of. Thanks for your reply Lisa
I have Online Armor too but that is not an Anti-Virus program. I use Avira but Microsoft Security Essentials is the most common Tech. recommendation here.

What I would try, is turning off Online Armor's program guard (HIPPS) and just leave it's excellent firewall on. I've had plenty of problems with it's program guard and now I permanently leave it off. It is far too "busy" and can cause problems with some programs and drivers. Thee smoothest program guard around is "Win Patrol" (it's in my links at the bottom of the page) and it has a freeware version.

See if disabling Online Armor's program guard makes a difference.

Cheers,
Lee
Hi Lee I have downloaded essentials and i did have win patrol on my pc but i cant check on my add or remove programs window as its just blank. I am runnning a full scan with essentials so will see what that comes up with, On my Online Armour the program guard was already off. just another thing which ive noticed is that when i use my firefox, the toolbar turns green and the page goes blank, i recently re installed this so not sure whats going on with it, so i have been using windows instead but when i tried to get onto security essentials page via your link ithe screen went black, the page did eventually appear but its really slow.. i shall see what the scan comes up with and get back to you if it mentions a virus. Thanks Lisa
I've never used Firefox (the add-ons are too insecure for my liking) so I'm not a good source of knowledge on it, but it does sound like you might be having a Melware issue as you had no anti-virus software installed. Cheers, Lee
Hi lee The scan came clean but this morning i had two more mini dumps ms came back with this; MS05-018: Vulnerabilities in Windows kernel could allow elevation of privilege and denial of service, not sure what to do do you know how this can be resolved? Im avoiding using firefox from now on and sticking to windows
